This has been my dream snake since I first laid eyes on them. I've done a lot of research on them, and I wanted your opinion. I follow Lori Torrini's channel and she uses a lot of different enclosure types for her Bredl's ranging from hantchongs to adults, one being something you would keep rodents or a ferret in provided they wouldn't be able to fit through the grates on the walls . Given how their humidity requirements aren't like their carpet cousins, can I use something like this? My ambient humidity stays about 50%.
@Pythonaddiction13 күн бұрын
This is a great question! Personally I suggest PVC enclosures as they do still have the heat requirements to have a good hotspot that gets to be around 90° so that they can self regulate for digestion and such. But with that being said, you could always create something that is hybrid offering a zone that is enclosed to this higher heat zone that can also have slightly higher humidity while also offering a larger enclosed area that they can move around in your inquiring about. The final enclosures that I plan on having for my pair will be approximately 30 inches wide by 24 inches deep 5 to 6 feet tall as they will take advantage of the climbing space!
@mirkrovi13 күн бұрын
@@Pythonaddiction I really like PVC enclosures, and I found a great one from Dubia that is 48x24x48. Do you think that would that be a suitable size?
@Pythonaddiction13 күн бұрын
@@mirkrovi the Dubia enclosures would be perfect for this particular species. I would still use a radiant heat panel on the top and foil over most of the upper surface. A 4’ x 2’ enclosure should be enough, especially if yours is a male. if you have a female, you may want to look at a 4 foot tall enclosure as they do get a little bit bigger

I just remembered I wanted to ask you if you have a moldy egg in the clutch and you leave it in there could it possibly make the other ones go bad?
@Pythonaddiction22 күн бұрын
Great question. The short answer is yes it can spread and cause other eggs to go bad. It’s more of a problem at the beginning stages of incubation when eggs are more susceptible. Thought that’s not always the case. Stay tuned for an upcoming video as I will discuss this a little bit more in-depth. Thanks for the great question and support!

I definitely would like to know more about that info you briefly mentioned, on reusing the same frozen rodent on the same snake during next feeding. Loved and learned a couple things on this educational video! I would make a minor suggestion that I like to personally do when I occasionally do the frozen thawed (at least for the ball pythons). Before thawing them in the water, tossing them into a ziplock bag; I use a small bag and container for my babies, but I think you’d be able to fit all onto 1 quart or gallon bag based off the video. Keeps them dryer to help prevent them cooling down too fast on you. Don’t know if it’ll be useful for you but much love and joy. Seeya in the next one! ✌️❤😊 - A-K & A
@PythonaddictionАй бұрын
I will definitely put together something to go more in-depth why I only feed an offered freshly killed rodent to the same snake if they refuse and I freeze it. In regards to placing things in a bag. I personally don’t do that as I do find that wasteful, especially considering the number of rodents I go through on a weekly basis and person don’t find it necessary as it doesn’t allow for direct water contact to every rodent to allow for quicker thawing. I also am not concerned about the water aspect as it provides a secondary source of hydration when snakes consume those rodents. However, I do know some people that will dry them off after soaking before offering, which is perfectly fine. Thanks for the great feedback !

20:17 I had been considering the Inkbird IPT-2CH to control a 4 level rack for adult hognoses with 4” heat tape, and an eventuality 5 level hatchling rack we’ll be adding later in the breeding season. I have Inkbird temp controllers on my aquariums for years, and they haven’t let me down (and the alarms have even alerted me I had forgotten to turn back on my canister filters on a few occasions because I run inline heaters, and if the filters aren’t on, the tank gets no heat…fun way to wake up from a dead sleep from our bedroom aquarium 😂). So I know and trust Inkbird as a brand and their reliability. Having WiFi capabilities on their newer, more modern models is an added bonus. As much as I’d love to have Herpstat SpyderWeb’s on all my enclosures and racks, that gets expensive quick, and depending on use-case, isn’t always necessary. I guess I was most concerned with a thermostat with just on/off capability and function would be suitable for a rack with heat tape, rather than a thermostat with its dimming or pulse proportional functions. I think the max either rack would be running would be around 50W with 4” heat tape, so this thermostat should meet my needs. I suppose heat tape is functionally simple compared to other heating methods, and simply programming an Inkbird thermostat to a 3 degree set range based around a target number in the middle, it would do the job without all the bells and whistles of a Herpstat (but still with Inkbird’s WiFi app capability). Great video. Answered some questions I had and I wasn’t expecting to find the thermostat I was already considering purchasing at the end of this video.
@PythonaddictionАй бұрын
If you’re looking at using the Wi-Fi version of the ink Bird, you just have to make sure that you’re running under 250 W total each channel on that smaller unit only controls about 125 W. 4 inch heat tape generally runs at approximately 9 W per foot so you will have to do the math based off the linear footage of the heat tape. I personally use the larger ITC-608T thermostats for my racks which are rated for 1800 W total 900 W per channel. The catch with those ones is they do not have the web interface. But your assessment of setting your temperature range plus or -3° of target is basically what I do for all of my racks probe placement should be towards the center of the heat tape total run so it heats up the most even. Given the variance of heat tape, you may also have to adjust your target temperature by plus or minus one to 2° to accommodate for heat rising from the lower levels of your rack.
@ethanray-louisvilleaquasca3553Ай бұрын
I should only be running between 40-75 watts per rack (4 tub adult colubrid rack, and 15 tub hatchling rack), so they’re small format, small scale operation size. If I was running anything other than heat tape, I’d probably go another route for peace of mind. Unfortunately the company I’m getting our racks from has a 6-8 week lead time (😓🤕), so we’ll be using heat mats in the interim, but will be using this thermostat until the racks arrive.
@PythonaddictionАй бұрын
@@ethanray-louisvilleaquasca3553 then you should be perfectly fine with the Wi-Fi versions
