Amazingly beautiful place Portugal. I kind of like it better than the far North. You should consider a Kindle Electronic Reader. Storage space is in short supply in Svalbard and you can fit hundreds of books on an E-Reader + invariably cheaper & downloadable from the internet. Terrific video.

If I don't need a dictionary and an atlas while reading a book, I consider it pretty much a waste of time. I used to read a lot of science fiction as well as fantasy, and there an atlas probably was not needed. But now I really love historical novels including ancient history from all over the world which are non-fiction. I also like series, because to really get into the characters takes a long stretch of time and to be a good story this means lots of books. The Gene Wolf series I read I think there were 13 books. Stephan Donaldson wrote a fantasy series of 6 books, and a science fiction series of 6 or more books. These writers both you need your dictionary by your side while reading. Heavy but exhilarating reading both!

Svalbard is a horrifically cruel ,cruel place. The weather will kill you quickly. For all your hard work and wealth creation, as soon as you hit hard times the government will deport you. Can't be disabled, ill ,give birth , become frail or live in poverty. Give , give , give to a government who's only kindness will be to pay for your 1 way ticket away.

Is there a foggy season there? We live on the California coast and have only a few sunny days in the last few weeks, non stop marine layer.
