Hi Rachel! If you'd like to draw with pen, you've got to try the Pilot FriXion line. The pens are refillable and you can erase your lines. I highly recommend them!

To answer your question about what kind of hat was the one with the buckle and band around it, how you would do a Google search for it, and what color it's supposed to be: it is a Pilgrim hat which also answers how to search for it. And they are shiny black with satin ribbon bands and gold buckles. The Pilgrims were a religious sect who emigrated to colonial America to escape persecution. They were very strict on their rules for behavior and codes of conduct. Modesty was key, especially for the women who wore bonnets, kept their hems down to their boots and sleeves over their wrists. They had to wear very stark colors - nothing pretty allowed. The Pilgrims are the ones who had the first Thanksgiving with an indigenous people group; so every year, our very young children dress up as Pilgrims and native Americans and put on dramas of the first Thanksgiving.

Who remembers their school teachers decorating the bulletin boards for Autumn/ fall? In the US we always had pilgrims on ours plus the other standard things cornucopias, pumpkins, pies, etc

Yes! My grandson just promoted from his Pre-K-1 school, and they still dress up and put on dramas about the first Thanksgiving. And he brought home many coloring pages with all of the cornucopia with bountiful harvests spilling out. It always brings back so many special memories of me, my siblings, and my grandchildren and all the fun of fall!

@@marshabraswell5681 The bonfire night is 5th November and there are firework displays too. It is to remember the time that Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the houses of parliament! Why we want to celebrate by lighting fires is beyond me lol Apparently in the town that I live they used to set fire to barrels and roll them down the high street (it is on a hill). You would not want to get in the way of that!

Pumpkin pie is not a thing here. In fact pumpkins are a relatively new thing and they are normally only carving pumpkins for Halloween rather than ones you can eat.

Hi Rachel! The hat in question is the style associated with pilgrims and is black Some of the men in our Amish communities also wear that style. I've several Goodridge books...I'm a gnome fan and she has several books with these little folks. Harvest festivals are quite fun! Large pumpkin patches, hay rides, apple picking, containers of fresh ciders and juices, apple and berry pies...the list goes on. In my county, the main go-to spots are in a slight mountainous area. It was always an annual trip for me with friends and our dogs. We'd stop and get some fresh bread close to the orchards, purchase bags filled with heirloom apples, grab a few gallons of various berry and apple beverages, then travel a few more miles to enjoy a beautiful hike up to the peaks of various mountains while filling our drinking bottles with fresh spring water along the way. Deer were frequently spotted grazing close to our paths. When we finished we'd enjoy a picnic @ a local lake. On the way back home, we'd stop and get flats pasture -raised chickens. Sadly, the main egg spot has become commercialized, keeping the hens in large buildings. Your aunt in CA probably knows the areas I'm speaking of. I hope you'll be able to visit the area next time you're here. The trip is about an hour northeast from where your aunt lives. The large pumpkin patch is also known for their nut farm but is located on a different route but still connects to the other area that I mentioned. Happy coloring in your new book this Autumn/ Fall. 🙏🌎☮🐾👣🌱🎶🎨❣
