I agree with Peter on many things, but his views on addiction are completely asinine and vacuous. Hundreds of thousands of people die every year from drug/alcohol related abuse, with many having stopped over and over again (with a sincere desire to be sober) yet ultimately being unable to. Plus the central theme of Chasing the Scream can be boiled down to the maxim: addiction is the opposite of (human) connection. It’s hard to believe Peter read the book when he’s so dismissive and flippant about its central thesis.

Lets not forget that across our nation and the rest of the UK, banks, post offices and building societies have been shutting down regularly for several years now. The SNP have done very little to stop globalised forces from inhibiting the positive development of economies across Scotland in more ways than one. At least back in the so-called dreaded 80s and most of the 90s there were more secure jobs in various good areas. Got to respect British citizenship whatever differences exist across our nation. Lib Dems and Scottish Conservatives need to get a foothold in Holyrood.
