during place multiple components action, I type in a RefDes and get a warning triangle in the helper window. What did I miss?
@CadencePCBDesignandAnalysis9 күн бұрын
The triangle shows up when the input is invalid. Make sure you're entering a RefDes that matches one in your netlist. If you're unsure what RefDes to use, you can find your list of parts in the Search panel at the bottom. Also, double check that your netlist is actually imported into the design. In the board outline step, it is possible to import a board outline, but still have the netlist wiped. In that case, it's a simple fix of simply exporting to your same .brd file through OrCAD X Capture.
Thank you for your question! To learn power integrity analysis, you’ll need to start by building a strong foundation in electrical engineering concepts, especially in power systems and signal integrity. You can look for online courses and textbooks on this topic as there are plenty of resources. You can engage in forums and follow industry blogs for practical insights and updates. Check out our hub here: resources.pcb.cadence.com/signal-power-integrity and check out our SI/PI analysis tools here: www.cadence.com/en_US/home/tools/pcb-design-and-analysis/si-pi-analysis.html

Very good video and I have a question. I am trying to setup the DFA package to package rules in order to have the DFA circle visible when I place the parts. Unfortunately the DFA circle never appears. If I place parts too close from each other, I do get a DRC error about DFA package to package error, so I guess my DFA rules are set correctly. I tried turning on all the layers, changing the grids, but no improvement. In the video, I noticed that the DFA circles seem to latch on assembly outline instead of the DFA_bound. I tried adding a filled rectangle on the component assembly_top, but it did not help. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Hi, i have the circuit of an op amp based pid controller. A VCO with sin(2*pi*(K*Vc*f)*t) as the value where K=1,f=120khz and a sine source with sin(2*pi*100khz*t) as value is given to a multiplier. The output of the multiplier is then given as the input of the op amp pid controller and output of this pid controller is given as a feedback to the vco where Vc is the output of pid controller. Can you please tell me how to do this schematic in orcad as I'm not able to give this eqn "sin(2*pi*(K*Vc*f)*t)" as value to vco and the feedback value Vc is not getting reflected. KINDLY PLEASE HELP.......
@CadencePCBDesignandAnalysis3 ай бұрын
There is VCO_SIN modelling App available in Capture -PSpice. One can configure it's model parameter to achieve desired V to F relationship. This should be tried first as standalone circuit to confirm that VCO transfer function and sensitivity is in desirable range, once this is confirmed, one should connect this with rest of circuit.

Hi sir

I think Cadence should include the option of viewing the name of the schematic design from which the netlist has been created. It will be help in 2 things, 1 after going to new layout, the display of schematic name in the PCB editor will ensure the netlist has been created from correct schematic design, 2 whenever we open the BRD file we can ensure there is proper sync between the schematic and PCB layout so that we don't need every time confirm the sync between the schematic and PCB
@johnsjunk91573 ай бұрын
great suggestion @deepakgkrishnan6062 I'm one of the product engineers for OrCADX and I agree this would be valuable information. Ideally we should display the design name, the revision, and the designers name who produced the netlist. I'll log this as something to look at for future releases.

How would I get more than 10 rows of the table of contents to show?
@CadencePCBDesignandAnalysis4 ай бұрын
Hi there, thank you for your question! To change the number of rows in your table of contents, simply go to Edit - Preferences from the main toolbar menu. Within the GUI, under Schematic, select Table of Contents and from there you can adjust the row count and click OK. Then within your schematic page, select the table, right click and re-evaluate the TOC to refresh the table. Hope that helps!

To import an Altium schematic to OrCAD you should be able to follow the steps on page 3 and 4 of this guide: resources.pcb.cadence.com/migration-guides/migration-guide-migrating-from-altium-to-orcad. How do you get Documentation Editor to appear in Allegro Manufacturing menu? Does this require OrCAD/Capture CIS? I'm using Concept/DE-HDL front end.

Hi Dan, you'll probably need an updated license file that includes the manufacturing option as well as the installation if you're currently not seeing Documentation Editor appear under the Allegro Manufacturing menu.

Can Monte Carlo and temperature/parameter sweep run simultaneously? I want to see the MC histograms at min and max operating temperature plotted together, but the performance analysis tool does not work when I have both analysis types selected even though the results are available.
@CadencePCBDesignandAnalysis Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can. You need to generate two plots - One for Min Temp and another for max temp - then you can view these side by side. You can do temp sweep with MC and while plotting you should select the desired simulation run (section) to plot.

Thank you for the video! Is this analysis equal to Voltage tolerance analysis? Also, can you change the criteria for the low/moderate/high levels?
@CadencePCBDesignandAnalysis Жыл бұрын
This is not a voltage tolerance analysis. It analyzes devices for voltage, current, power-dissipation and temperature stress. If any of the values is more than rated, it is flagged. You can change the criteria for low/moderate/high levels by applying derating factor.
