Jeez mate you guys get around...last time I went to Weipa was in 79, different track from Cook Town back then! I bet the beer tastes as good though. I look forward to your Aurukun episode? I went that way and found ourselves in Normanton, fk knows how we did it back then💪

I wouldn't call it a country pub. It's flash and modern and one of the best layouts for a hotel you'll ever come across. The loud music in the bar was annoying though.

We didn't really say it was a country pub...but we love our unique country pubs! Just a pub we came across on our travels ! In general a place we enjoyed on our travels and wanted to share.. Each to their own

Should've been there 20 years ago. Was a true country pub, but the township and its scenery got the attention it deserved.

@aussiepubsoftheday was the only joint in town back then. Restaurants included. Great place Agnes and 1770. Shame they put a price on that paradise and forced the locals out

Oh there were a few flies...filmed in July 2022! Definitely a great spot to call in and either stay or have a drink or two 😊

Filmed around August, plenty of flies outside trust me!! Definitely worth a visit.

Unfortunately got flooded to the roof just before xmas '23 from the rains generated by cyclone Jasper. The owner and 15 others were rescued off the roof by a guy called 'Magoo' in a small mustering chopper (a bloody hero) It is now all hands on deck to clean up and possibly have one of the bars operational by the end of january '24. If roads are passable and you are up that way, maybe call in and give a helping hand for a day. It would be a crying shame to loose such an aussie icon.

There's no mention in this video of us going for a swim! But from what I know people do swim there in the natural fresh water swimming holes/creek!

Thanks Pete...yeah i totally agree they really stuffed up the pub tryng to do a 'Henry Jones' style pub. It was supposed to be finished in Oct 2022 but just completed in Dec. The new area at the back echo's and is noisy when its busy. No atmosphere and yes they stripped the old maritime pix inside the restaurant. Hopefully they will add some large maritime art in the new tunnel (reception) and even a few portholes ! The food is a bit exy now even the bar menu you get less for more $ . Love the old pub. Cheers.
