(If this is for kata or anything like that then ignore this and my bad 😂)
@AdamGerrald8 күн бұрын
This is kinda like a kata, it’s a drill cycling through the 8 angles of attack using a specific type of strike. This is more for practicing to move the body and feel natural swinging a weapon. The tactics would be significantly different during stick sparing. It would be unreasonable to think I could pull off all 8 without getting hit. Thanks for the comment 🤙

Go back a few steps, practice your, reverse turn roundhouses to make sure you get enough pivot before the jump. Practice your jump roundhouses and see if that hurts. Make sure the kicking angle is correct there. Then work on tornados again

So far I'm only able to do it in the bag, and even there really close to the 50 seconds. My other concern is I feel sometimes I don't pivot those 90 degrees at least, like it's getting stuck. I've tried all the tips on pulling back the leg, I even do workouts using the boxingtimer with 50second rounds and 1 minute rest. (not gonna lie, I need the whole minute rest XD) It's true initially I couldn't even do it within the 50 seconds using the bag so there has been some progress but it still annoys me. I wonder if it's just a fitness issue, I do some cardio on the stationary bike and rowing machine. No running because of my knees and lower back. So I wonder if that's the issue
@AdamGerrald18 күн бұрын
Just like gripping with the nunchaku it just takes repetition. Your body will find ways to become more efficient at it as well as strengthen the specific muscles needed. The requirement is not easy and I’d say the requirement to earn green belt is the hardest requirement overall and it’s just doing this same thing but in under 35 seconds

Sir, Can we add some gymnastics in class?
@AdamGerrald22 күн бұрын
TKD doesn’t quite have any gymnastics. Granted at higher levels there are more fancy jump spinning kicks. But these classes are still all at the white belt level. For gymnastics in martial arts I recommend checking out Capoeira. I’ve got a few lessons on that on my channel, but I don’t go super in-depth. Gymnastics isn’t quite my specialty. There was a channel I use to watch many years ago who taught cool tricks the name of the channel was Ginger Ninja Trickster. Not sure if he still makes videos but if his old ones are still up I highly recommend them

Your not wrong. I also wouldn’t be coming in like that if it the rules were where a certain number of points wins. I just discovered this, and it's amazing. However, I see some issues with the judging. I find it hard to place blame as they clearly know what they're doing and are quality judges, but its hard to see everything thats going on in real time. This sport would benefit from an instant replay system with slow motion, kind of like how it's presented on youtube. There were a number of times Adam should have been awarded a point when no points were awarded. There was also an engagement that Jason was awarded a point when it was clear in slow motion he missed and was countered to the head. He got the point, but in reality, his head, neck, or face would have a deep gash. I like this but have issues with it at the same time. I think for the sport to grow, the judging would need to be accurate, and the simple fact is that the judges need technological assistance. Regardless, you gained a new subscriber in me after also discovering the classes which and nicely organized into playlist. Thank you for all your hard work.
@14aartis25 күн бұрын
This would also help when both land but the quality of strikes are vastly different.
@AdamGerrald25 күн бұрын
Yeah it’s really difficult for the judges. Especially when you take into account the angle at which they’re standing. For instance the judge on the back left is most likely to award me the point because it would be easier for him to see my weapon hit Jason, while the judge on the back right would be more likely to award Jason the point. And the head judge can only see what is on his side. They do the best they can which is why I don’t ever argue with their calls like some other people do. If I know I should have gotten the point but didn’t. What that tells me is that I need to be better and make it more clearly obvious to everyone that I got the hit without being hit. Guess I just need to be better 😂 Thanks for the comment 💪
