Hi Chris. Great tying, this fly will work here on the lochs in Scotland fishing the margins where bugs are blown onto the water. Heading off to tie some, perhaps rust colour as well as the black that we have hatching here. Tight lines. Derick.

I fished this pattern in Rapid Creek during the summer and fall of 1978 as a teenager. The browns couldn't resist it, either on or below the surface. When I could afford it I would buy as many as I could at the Ellsworth AFB base exchange. When I couldn't afford them I used streamers I tied with sewing thread, nail polish, yarn snipped from my mother's skeins, and feathers I found or from feather pillows. Ahh the good old days.

Great story. I love it. Being innovative is where it all began. Creative and resourceful. Nice. How old were you then? This was Hemingway’s favorite pattern in the mountains of Idaho. Are you still fishing?
@walterduncan17783 ай бұрын
I was 16 that summer and fall. I bagged groceries for tips on weekends in the summer and fished during the week and went to Rapid City Central HS and fished on the weekends in the fall. Rapid creek is pretty cold at the end of November. I don't fish much anymore. When I do it's creek fishing for smallmouth and largemouth bass here in Tennessee, or fishing from a pier for Spanish mackerel and other species while on vacation in panhandle Florida.

Some tidy loops there Chris. The rings on your rod always get a good workout. Great to see you, how is 'Little Bear' ? A big hello from the green isle and blessings on you for the coming season. ATB.

What a great hello on Christmas. I often wonder how you are doing. A great friend from the other side of the pond. Little bear is no so little and she is doing great. She just opened a box of new waders. Her comment was it’s the first time since she was 13 not to have water in her waders. Lol. Her older sister got some too. Time to pass the rod and hope that the both of them spend time in all of the right places. Peace and love to you snd yours.

Why do you chose deer over elk hair
@ChrisWalklet7 ай бұрын
It does not matter that much either way. Just an at the moment call. There are different shades of deer that are lighter and many of the caddis hatches near me tend to be lighter. Tan caddis all year long. Maybe that is part of it. It is like cooking. LOL

A terrible video. Don't wear dark clothing while tying a "darkish" fly, there is no contrast to see the fly. No voice over instructions telling the viewer what you are doing or trying to achieve. Quote obviously he did not practice tying this fly before shoot the video. Poor poor quality!

In our school, there were a bunch of kids who went out of their way to kill woolly bears so me and my friend founded the woolly bear society, and now we have recognition from our school, and now it’s lunch detention for killing, woolly bears over six woolly bears
