Great video, please make sure you blow the grass clippings off the road, motorcycles will have an accident with grass clippings, not sure if you did or not, did not see you do it so just a reminder from a bike guy.

Good job John. The outhouse sank probably because of the hole that was dug for the waste. They used to be built on skids so it could be move over a fresh hole. In The old holes people used sack lime to help break down waste.

My uncle used to have cooked sausage patties in a lard crock… you just dipped out what you needed into a skillet, heated it thru then dumped the lard back into the crock to re seal it

Many hands make a light work. Maybe you could organize a volunteer work day event. Volunteers could bring yard equipment such as weedeaters, hand push bush hog, pole saw etc.

An uncle of mine and his wife made Kentucky sorghum for years. Each year at the family reunion, they would bring their mule, woodburning stove, and a whole truckbed of cane. We'd have little sips of the juice throughout the day. And we always had snapping turtle for dinner fried, or in a soup! I'm in my 30's and realize many people of my generation are so distanced from these traditional food methods. Grateful to have the childhood I did ❤

Well you are sure working hard. Bless you for keeping this place alive and restoring it and sharing all the beautiful history and memories with us all. I just got back from my visit of Eastern TN and the Smoky Mountains and Asheville at the Biltmore. I can say this is the most beautiful area I have ever seen. You are blessed to be able to enjoy God's given beauty daily that He has given us. Be blessed and stay safe too!

Watch those ticks. If I was there I'd help you. I help people for free every day from Auto, PC repair and build to carpentry, landscaper, plumbing, roofing, etc.. Get yourself a extended trim cutter as well, much easier.. 👍 Trick to the weed wacker. If you want to save string. keep the cutter sharp so it cuts the string more effectively instead of fighting with it pulling more out than what's needed. The guard/blade and centrifugal force will take care of the rest keeping the string properly cut which also saves you fuel or battery life from having to speed the weed eater up to cut the string. Use less energy to do more work with lower expenses. 😁

Back in the day. Before I was a restaurant salesman, I was a Pepsi Route Driver. And buildings like this that put 3-4 vending machines out front got a ton of vending biz. Look at that as a revenue stream for this property.

It's a step in the right direction. Wish I could help John . I do not get poison ivy. But what you did get cleaned up looked great. The old out house does not really need a pit anymore so raise it up on some treated timber. new floor to make it safe if some one does enter. plant flowers around it . Look forward to more on the this old historic Icon . Paul from east central Indiana
