You mean in general or for this particular case? For this particular case the method in the video should still work fine as long as you follow it to a T. As for the parries in general, in Elden Ring it's a bit tricky because both the incoming attack and the parry have some wind up time. Usually you have to just learn the visual/audio cue for when to press the parry button by experimenting a lot. Many humanoid enemies share some attacks, so once you learn it, it is transferrable between different humanoid enemies to a degree. But still, when you see people beating bosses with parries only, it's probably their 100th-200th try on this boss or it's a humanoid boss that has some familiar moves. So it just comes down to a lot of practice and patience.

The talisman shouldn't affect anything but stamina consumption for blocking. What probably happened is the talisman change put you in a different equipment load class. I haven't tested the method with all the possible equipment loads sadly, but I have a strong suspicion that it only works with the medium equip load.

That does absolutely nothing for the parry.

I did this with both MnK and gamepad. I am pretty bad with controlling the camera using gamepad so I killed all but one using MnK

I encountered one that didn't want to teleport at first, but managed to make it teleport somehow by experimenting with the distance to it. If that doesn't work, you can also try to run away for some time: IIRC they can do this move as a regular attack too if you are pretty far away from them, not only as an opener move.

TLDR it's out of scope for this video imo The video is about how to make them vulnerable and how to setup a parry to successfully parry on your first try. It's up to the viewer to decide if they want to have more madness resistance and how they would want to raise it. If I were to cover all the options, the video would become much longer and lose a lot of value to the people who just want to quickly learn how to setup the parry. Of course you can use that shield, especially given how easy it is to get (but I for example didn't have it in my inventory on this character) and it will increase the odds of your survival a bit. You can also use Clarifying Horn Charm and Mottled Necklace to boost your vitality even further. But the goal was to make it so people can just quickly grab whatever small shield they have and quickly defeat those guys. Also if Madness works in the same way as Sleep does, you can just jump when it's about to proc. If it procs midair, then you will get knocked down and get the usual knock down s (at least that's how Sleep works) If I were to cover all the options, then it would make more sense to make a separate video on all the madness counter options in my opinion

@@YamiKukki i just think it's funny because I've seen other videos about these guys and how to fight them and everyone picks a different shield but never the one with with that resistance even though it's a very common one to have and a very obvious choice.

​@@Greyinkling276 personally I picked this specific shield because this was the only light shield with parry I had on this character. This was a DLC access + all Estus + Miner Bell Bearings "speedrun" character, so I didn't have much gear on her.

Yeah, this is the easiest way to guarantee consistent timing for a parry, so everyone can guarantee a parry just by following the steps in the video, regardless of their familiarity with parrying. It is possible to guarantee a parry without getting hit, but the combo for that is significantly longer and requires a missable Ash of War.

I mean in theory you can. But the sword parry is the worst parry in terms of parry frames duration: more than twice as short as the small shield one. So while it's possible, it's gonna be really hard to consistently parry them with a sword and most likely won't work with this method.

Well, IDK for sure, but the patch notes didn't mention anything related to this, so it should still work just like before

Make sure that you are using a small shield for this, medium shields are very inconsistent with this method. Also you can try locking on instead of pressing forward. And the last thing, make sure that your equip load is medium, I haven't mentioned it in the video, but it may be important.

​@@Cypheq are you light rolling by any chance? Light rolls may come out a bit faster compared to medium rolls, so be sure to have medium equip load for that to work. Also you need to be facing directly towards the enemy when your parry comes out, otherwise there is a good chance that your parry comes out too early. Other than that I have no idea what might be causing that, sadly :(

Running around them works too, but one of them drops a valuable item. If you ever feel like giving it another try, you can try infusing your shield with Carian Retaliation or Golden Parry Ashes of War - those have a bit more parry frames than even a small shield parry. If you don't however, there is an ash of war called "Assassin's Gambit" that conceals your presence (reduces the aggro range in other words), so you can try this one, maybe it works on them.
