I picked up a flx4 recently to dj as a hobby basically, been beatmatching (while glued to your channel lol) for a couple of weeks now. I mainly listen to hardstyle/hardcore and would like to mix/dj that. Do you have any tips for that? Since most tracks has so much going on i find it hard to mix them together the same way as house track. That or they do not have a intro/outro suitable for mixing. Hats off for good tutorials!

@djcarlo ha ha yeah faircall, i was so nervous for my first supporting gig in years, i practiced my opening set for a month! Not every day but I tried 3 days a week, i changed the tracks and routine around quite a bit, mainly because I was getting fatigued listening to the same tracks over and over again but eventually settled about two weeks out leading up to it. The thing I concentrated on most was my cutting and scratching routines, nothing crazy just a few baby scratches, flares and transforms, my scratching is still stuck in the 90s but im trying to improve, overall i was pleased with the outcome, i got a few ppl praise me for the set afterwards so I did my job as far as i was concerned, i was so relieved! 😆

My mate just bought an older Rane One. Says its great, im going to hopefully have a play this weekend. Was thinking of getting a Pioneer xdjxz myself, i kind of want something similar to a club set up as im playing out more and can't justify spending a small fortune on cdjs yet, i need a new car before them 😂

Go for it! Though the layouts are pretty similar, the effects sections are definitely different

@djcarlo that's OK i honestly don't use fx too much when playing out, maybe a LPF/HPF or echo out transition here and there but I still manually do things like doubles and phasing, etc. I guess with practice and more experience i probably will use them more. 👍

No. It's done after I record the footage, and edit it together in Final Cut Pro

Well, this video came out a month before the FLX10 was released (and the full video even before that!), so the secondhand FLX10 market literally did not exist yet at the time haha
