Hey there, thanks for sharing. I think it's totally normal to feel like that sometimes, even when everything seems perfect on paper. Maybe it's about needing something different or changing up your routines. Don’t beat yourself up over it; everyone’s journey is unique. Consider exploring what's missing through journaling, meditation, or talking to someone. I hope you discover what's missing and feel happier at work soon!

I know the feeling! I worked in a call center for a couple of years handling health insurance customer service. It was the most draining and miserable job I ever had. I was so exhausted that I had to see a doctor for migraines and even ended up in the ER with a severe one. What helped me get through that tough time was practicing gratitude, taking pictures, and noticing the changing seasons. These small things didn't make the job less horrible, but they did make it a bit more bearable. I hope you find something you enjoy soon, but in the meantime, I commend you for recognizing the bright side of having a paycheck!

My husband was unemployed for a bit less than a year. I swear the thing that shifted for him was he started doing Ubereats and Instacart - just the vibe change and getting out of the house and seeing new parts of our beautiful city helped him be himself in interviews. That might be true, but I do have 18 years of experience in customer service and currently transitioning into a career in communications and digital marketing. @@RachelElizabethW I've been thinking along the same lines as you. I was going to start posting, but I feel kinda off. I also am not sure I should use my real name? So many variables to consider. I completely understand your hesitation about using your full name. I decided to use my first and middle name, but I've seen others use their first and last. For privacy and safety, I'd be cautious about using your last name. A pen name could be a good option too. I've heard from some recruiters that it's a good idea to remove graduation years and focus on relevant experience from the past 15 years. While I haven't personally faced ageism, being in my 30s, I can see why you're cautious. It's so hard to navigate with so many variables and conflicting advice from recruiters and experts. I have been unemployed for 12 weeks but just signed a job offer! I am in a different field, but I will say that the most helpful thing for me was getting feedback on my resume from a former manager. Last week I asked my manager to do a mock interview with me and he gave excellent feedback. Networking was not helpful for me. I applied to 150+ jobs and interviewed for 13. Only one of the interviews came from a referral.

Congrats on the job offer! That is amazing! I actually have not spoke to my manager since the call that I was getting laid off. I heard through the grapevine they were told not to really say anything to us 🤷‍♀️ If I needed a reference for a job I am sure I would be able to get that though. I did some mock interview questions on Google through the certificate I took and that was helpful. I will have so much to do for interview prep when that time comes. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! Good luck in the new position! Keep us updated!

I'm so sorry your job hunting isn't going too good for you. I'm a freelancer so I haven't had a traditional 9-5 in over a decade but I'm just shocked that you haven't landed a gig in the field you are in. On LinkedIn I see digital marketing gigs all the time. Maybe they are freelance based... I liked the chats in the kitchen where the video followed you. What were you using? I also enjoyed your Canva tutorial. I had no idea that you could change images into watercolor and I use Canva every day! You talked about experience in your corporate job. Perhaps a video about that topic could help with views?
@RachelElizabethW
@RachelElizabethW 9 күн бұрын
I think I am having a hard time because I have my broadcasting degree but no real experience. My resume is primarily customer service and analyst gigs. Most of my digital marketing is from my hobbies and the certificate. It also seems to be a VERY competitive industry. Maybe its my age? Who knows, I am going to keep trying though! I am using the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 in the kitchen. I have been using that camera more over my canon m50 because it is much more convenient for vlogging and getting in little spaces. I didn't know I could do that in Canva either! First time I ever tried! It was the new AI feature they added. There is so much Canva can do now its crazy! I made the dinner menu in Canva too. I can def dive deeper into my previous corporate experiences! Thanks for watching and sharing!

Yeah, it sucks what happened, but I wasn’t the only one. They laid off over 1,000 people this year. They told me it was a position elimination, but I knew they were having financial issues and running at a loss. No one knew it was that bad until there was another round of layoffs after mine. Great discussion about the buzzwords you avoid… I feel the same… my boomer parents say I’m just being too picky etc., but it’s really about having standards. I don’t wanna work for a place where I’m expected to be a performative “rock star” or golden retriever… I don’t wanna take a role where I’m overworked & underpaid… I don’t want a workplace culture that feels like “family”… I literally just wanna show up, do my work, and go home. And get paid in a way that reflects my education/credentials. End of.

@@RachelElizabethWAgreed, a mindset shift is def in the works. I feel like it’s a generational thing, with the influx of younger/millennial/gen z folks in the workplace and taking a stand… Putting ourselves before a job, like you said… More and more ppl are actively rejecting the societal narrative that, as an adult, “you are your job”… We’re fed that idea our whole lives, and then things don’t go as planned… Like it’s no wonder why there’s so many adults feeling empty, lost, adrift…
