I have used your video to build my remote lawn mower. The problem I have is that the motors are powerfull and when I start them I have to just slightly move the switch on the remote or the mower will bolt. Is there a way to step down the amount of power to the motors so even at full throttle they would only run at the 7 mph you have shown?

If you’re using the same remote as we did, you can set the acceleration and max level of the signal. If you check your user manual, it will tell you how to do this.

I actually repair roho's for pinholes and replace the cells itself. For a pinhole you scuffed the area, clean it with a pad of alcohol and then you put your patch on as flat as you can. Then you take a tablespoon and press it down all around on a hard surface to guarantee it to stick. Changing cells is a different topic. I do it all the time. You do need skills for that and some extra tools and I've made templates up to help me guide the new cells back into place without them being off center or whatever.

Nice job. You asked for some idea on improvement. The only thing I would change is the front wheels. I used the swivel wheels from the wheel chair. I made one a couple years ago to mow under the pine trees. The fixed wheels seem to make your mower go straighter though so if you dont have to go around to many obstacles it looks like they work good for you. I like the idea of the starter too. Nice work

Do you know if it would work ok on steep hills?
@MeantToBeLindseyBАй бұрын
We've had mixed luck on steep hills. These tires do struggle getting traction on steep hills. If you're building one for hills, definitely look for more "offroad" knobby tires. Also, since the mower is very front heavy, it doesn't like to drive along a hill will a side slope, it just wants to track down the hill and is hard to control. It has plenty of power to drive up and down the hill as long as the tires can get traction.

Could not figure out why my R/C mower would gain a mind of its own and need to be shut down for a minute when I changed direction quickly/often until I watched your video. Just ordered a step down converter to stop the fly back voltage from messing with my receiver. Thank you for your great video and information. Wish me luck.
@MeantToBeLindseyB2 ай бұрын
Good luck! Since we made these videos, we've had the same issue happen a few times too. Since they are cheap, we just go ahead and replace the remote receiver and also replace the receiver leads with new leads and fresh solder on any bare copper that goes into screw terminals. We just like to make SURE that we do not have any intermittent signal loss between the receiver, step-down converter, and motor driver. It's cheap and easy to do just to give a little piece of mind ESPECIALLY if it's been acting up.
@MrDozer120Ай бұрын
@@MeantToBeLindseyB do you really need to replace the receiver? Mine is still working fine after I turn it back on. I have done a little (very little so far) reading on special flyback current diodes. They still make me a little confused but I think that diodes would be the way to go. They would allow electricity to only be able to flow in one direction and stop the flyback current. Also, I think a person can program their remote to soften the braking for each motor. This should stop the flyback because it wouldn't be a sudden stop of input voltage. I will try to keep you informed. Thank you again!!
@MeantToBeLindseyBАй бұрын
@@MrDozer120 It’s not a MUST REPLACE, but for us it’s a good idea and it’s fairly inexpensive and easy for the peace of mind. The diode is a good safety too.

I copied most of your methods except I used EZ Mow wheels for the front casters. You are literally an inspiration I’ve been in a chair since early 2015. We have switched to the EZ Mow wheels as well since this video came out. We're glad the build has worked out for you. I have a lawn mower (two 350w motors) controlled by a sabertooth 2x25 and a flysky i6ab. All fonctionned. I had to change the wheel transmission, so I had to dismantel the electronics. Now, all remounted at the original position, when I turn on the circuit, one wheel start spinning alone. (turning on the flysky, it cannot drives. I am not a specialist). I succesfully rebinded, but the wheel start again. On the flysky display appear a third line: SIGS1:10. What does it mean? (i suggest somethings about velocity of motor 1). What can i do? Thanks
@MeantToBeLindseyB2 ай бұрын
It's hard to know from your description. If everything worked correctly before, it seems like it's a wiring issue. If it never worked correctly to begin with, it would could be a settings issue or a wiring issue. We would check the DIP switches on the motor driver using the manual to set them for your current setup. Then I would unplug everything and reconnect it one connection at a time, ensuring that the signal wires from the remote receiver are connected to the correct input ports in the motor driver (channel 1 to 1 and channel 2 to 2). Ensure there are no frayed or loose wires and all the wires are plugged in correctly ESPECIALLY on the remote receiver where it is very easy to plug in the wires upside down or in the wrong channel. Rebind the remote receiver and reset the setting on it if anything has changed. Let us know if you need more help!

Awesome video But how do you teach remote to turn motor when you move joystick?
@MeantToBeLindseyB2 ай бұрын
The motor driver interprets the signals from the remote receiver. All you have to do is plug the correct channels of the remote into the correct signal inputs on the motor driver. In our case it was channel 1 and 2 on both. Plug those in and it just works. There are different options for things like independent control (like a tank) which you can program on the motor driver using the DIP switches. Check your manual for your particular setup.

Does it work well in rainy, wet areas? Is there a mechanical fault?
@MeantToBeLindseyB2 ай бұрын
We do not run it in the rain, mostly because WE don't want to be out in the rain. With the exposed motor driver components it would be VERY bad if water started pooling in that too. So far we haven't had any issues with that even with some damp grass getting in the motor driver if we mow when the grass isn't perfectly dry. The wheels do have some issues with traction even when it's dry, they would really struggle getting up hills and bumps when they are wet. Lucky our yard is fairly level so it's not a big issue, but we do tend to make sure the grass is nice and dry when we mow.

Yeah, we’ve thought about making a weed eater addition too. We’ve had a couple of good ideas but haven’t tried it yet. We’ve seen a few builds that are just stripped out electric wheelchair frames. It works great and is a great way to use existing batteries and charger and wiring to simplify the build. Let us know what you come up with!
@dankeeton95992 ай бұрын
Ok so when you turned it down I guess that was with the controller??? So it wouldn't be so fast.
@MeantToBeLindseyB2 ай бұрын
For the "test", we were using 2 batteries (24 volts) and then to slow it down we changed to just 1 battery (12 volts). However, since this video came out, we have realized you can set the max speed using the remote settings and that's what we use now. That should be an option on just about any remote transmitter you purchase. You just need to read the manual or watch videos that show exactly how to do it because it can get confusing using the built in menu options on the remotes.

Hi Lindsey, I live in South Africa. The sun is always shining here and there is always the risk of developing skin cancer if you have a light skin. I developed a growth on the lower eye lid of my right eye. I do not know if it is cancer or just a benign growth but I went on a high nutrition diet for about two months and the growth have shrunk noticeably. I would like to share the diet with you. The soup Ingredients: - two handfuls of Chopped broccoli, one chopped onion (purple), two bags of green tea, two pinches of mixed herbs, two sticks of cut celery, Two handfuls of frozen and crushed spinach or kale, half a table spoon of crushed garlic, Three shakes of black pepper, seven shakes of turmeric, two tablespoons full of apple cider vinegar (with the mother), one bag of white onion powder soup for flavour, a hand full of cooked red speckled beans and a handful of cooked mince meat. Just add all the ingredients in a pot, add boiling water and switch the stove on high till the water boils. Then lower the heat until the water simmer, Let the soup simmer for an hour. The soup is now ready. I would only drink water in the morning. At 12h00 I would start eating the soup. There will be about two helpings that you can eat in the 12h00 to 18h00 time frame. I also ate a fruit salad every day in the 12h00 to 18h00 time frame. (Note: Apparently turmeric reduces the effect of some chemotherapy drugs and thus should not be taken during chemotherapy.) During the rest of the week I would also eat food that contains vitamin D like avocado’s, mushrooms, liver and eggs in the 12h00 to 18h00 time frame. It seems to be working for me, maybe it will also work for you. I pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ that you will stay cancer free. Amen.
