Andy Roberts was the kingpin of the fearsome quartert of WI fast bowlers. Infact he was the leader of the pack & was the first entrant of the fearsome fast bowlers into the WI side. Love watching his bowling as he was a complete bowler.

I became interested in cricket as a boy age 10 because of the exploits of David Steele, "the bank clerk who went to war," against the Aussies in '75.

Gold footage, thank you. I didn't realise Sobers' action had so much 'sling' in it. Obviously Jeff Thompson is the most famous slinger, but given Sobers was doing it in the 1960s it is even more remarkable that more bowlers today don't use it.

This delivery reached the crease around 0.60-0.62 sec so this one is 122-125kph maybe quicker because the crease wasn't visible so there is a possibility that i took reach point after the crease

Hilarious to see Tony Locke stand his ground after being out three times in 2 balls. One plumb lbw not given, followed by hit wicket and caught at slip same ball. I think Sobers was on his way up to tell him to get off just before he picked his bat up. Great delivery, unsporstman like leaving the field Locke looking like someone had taken his sweeties away.

Absolutely! He is standing his ground with the bails lying on the ground. Peter West is asking if he has been given out caught and hasn't even noticed the obvious.

Hang on a minute, the West Indies were all over Australia in this test match. This is the same test match where Curtley Ambrose took 7 Australian wickets for just 1 run in Australia's first innings. The West Indies then cleaned up Australia inside 3 days to win the match by more than an innings, winning the series 2-1, and retaining the Sir Frank Worrell Trophy in the process. It continued decades of dominance over Australia as a result of that. Ambrose was named player of the match, player of the series, and player of the entire Australian summer. Australia had no answer to him.

These bowlers would have made a fortune in this era of IPL and T20 leagues. Not to mention the other revenue making avenues as well. Sad that they were in an era when there wasn’t much money to be made in cricket. In fact even in India serious money started flowing in only in the late 90s and even then into a handful of cricketers made good money like Sachin. Most cricketers of that era retired as upper middle class ppl.

No matter. Please you create new comment to learn. Like how Lara re acted while facing fast ball. I had already mentioned that it is very difficult to judge who is best Batman either Sachin or Lara as both applied different technique. I was also wrong to comment on Lara and you are also wrong to react on my comment. With. Thanks.
