How do I find a decent chukar area near me besides looking for guzzlers?
@ReelsandRidges
@ReelsandRidges 8 күн бұрын
When we look for a new spot, we look for a place that has water (like you mentioned), good feed, and good rock croppings birds can flee to for safety. Along with that, we look for places that are rugged and steep where nobody else wants to walk. Habitat is important of course but you’ll find the most birds in the places where hunters just don’t want to go

@ReelsandRidges
@ReelsandRidges 15 күн бұрын
Sometimes the waves at this lake get too big for the ladder but most of the time it isn’t an issue. The ladder actually helps with smaller waves because you can wade deeper and not worry about a wave going over your waders.

Hi! New subscriber. I'm almost 75 and still enjoy hiking to destinations, but obviously not too strenuous. Was that the trail from Spooner Lake? There is another trail from the Chimney Beach parking on highway 28 which is a bit more rugged but supposed to be shorter. Approximately 1-1/2 hours. Arrives at dam.

Hi, thanks for subscribing! We took the trail from Hobart Reservoir, the steepest part is the walk from the parking area down to Hobart, the rest of the elevation gains and drops aren’t too bad. I think that route is about 4.5 miles

great video! I do a lot of hiking and fly fishing, but I've never had a boat small enough to take to the alpine lakes. I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews on the float tubes you guys used in the video related to leaks and holes after short time use, How would you say the Caddis float tubes are? and also do they take up a lot of space in a backpack? I have a 65 liter pack and it would be cool to do an overnight but still have room for the float tube.
@ReelsandRidges
@ReelsandRidges 2 ай бұрын
So far the caddis has held up but we haven’t had it out a ton of times. If we were to recommend one though we would say go with the Cumberland by classic accessories. It has been a great float tube for me and we have several friends that all have one. We use to use packable pontoon boats (in our earlier videos) that were made by classic accessories and always had good luck with those as well. As with anything, quality can change over time so recent reviews might be more relevant than mine but hopefully that helps you!

It is a bit bulky because the seat has a large piece of foam (which is great while you are on the water but does increase the size) so it may be hard to get it inside a pack. When I pack it, I have a frame style pack I attach it to

@@ReelsandRidges Don't assume you always have to go to Southern Az to hunt Quail. Sure, that is the only area of the state where you will be able to bag Scalies and Mearns. If that's what you are after, then fine. If you are OK with only Gambles, then they are basically all over the state. They are a worthy opponent, I promise you. And I don't even hunt with a dog. The area I hunt in Central Western Az almost never has snow, and most years has a great number of Gambles.

Wow! You guys sure have had good hunting this year in Nevada for chukar. I have had problems before with my gun’s Inertia bolt if it’s not in the correct position. I also have had problems with reload shells not having enough recoil action to properly rotate the bolt and causing a misfire. Good luck figuring out the gun issues. Annie has the bird problems solved.
@ReelsandRidges
@ReelsandRidges 5 ай бұрын
Yeah it was a good year, we felt pretty fortunate. There seems to be a little slop in the bolt so I think your guess of bolt position is a good one. Going to have to have a professional take a look but luckily I have the off season to figure it out. I could feel Annie’s disappointment alongside my own when the gun didn’t go off lol
@ronblackburn3683
@ronblackburn3683 5 ай бұрын
@@ReelsandRidgestry this: remove the recoil pad and stock, then spray gun-scrubber in the tube (it has a spring in it) that extends into the stock from the action/receiver. That spring helps the inertia bolt rotate into position and needs cleaning from time to time. Weed seeds and grit can get lodged in the spring.

Thanks, glad you liked it! It is a bit of an optical illusion because of the cameras on the barrels, they are pretty standard (26in on the franchi and 24in on the M3500). The M3500 looks especially short because of the long fore-stock and magazine. I have been running a full choke in the M3500 lately though, which helps balance out the slightly shorter barrel.
