I'm so sorry you experienced all this pressure. I'm a Mary Kay consultant (Jessica, my husband is Alfred) and my recruiter and director are excellent. No pressure at all. They made it clear our business is our business and we work it as little as we want or as much as we chose. The training has been awesome and the ladies on my team are so helpful, supportive, but never pushy at all. They just give tips all the time that we can use to make money. I'm shocked you were treated this way. I wish you never experienced this and definitely not what Mary Kay Ash would have wanted. I recommend to everyone to read the book "Miracles Happen" by Mary Kay Ash. She explains her life story working as a woman when women were not treated equal. She started Mary Kay as a way for women to become self-starters, independent, and pampered. Our team empowers each other, after all this is what Mary Kay wanted. I feel bad how you were treated. I wish you would have started with us!

I've been using it. You're supposed to use a little water to drink the sediment left over. I get energy from it but it's NOT COFFEE... it does keep me from over using coffee and if I've had to much coffee it settles my jitters...

At what point does someone take responsibility for over charging their credit card and paying for things they can't afford? I had to turn this off. so annoying. My Goodness, like I had credit cards at 18 and literally maxed them out on material things and eating out but I'm not blaming the restaurants or the retailers. Shoot I even went to the movie's and had nails done did it make me look any better? Idk matter of opinion I guess but lets not take any responsibility for my failures, lets blame it on the big bully in a pink Cadillac for the decisionns I made?? No way. you did this for 2 years and for what? To give up? To blame your failure on someone else. Its not for everyone. Its like school peer pressure. I don't do anything I don't want to do. I research everything now. Its my life, my choices and nobody but God tells me what to do. I'm so sorry you had this happen and felt like this. If you were my daughter and my daughter is your age and sells mk part time while going to med school I would tell you never bite off more than you can chew! Yes, you must take risks in any home buisness but responsible risks! Do not ever go in debt and pay for meetings? They should be free via zoom! Team Huddles anyway. I'm not sure what meetings you paid for. Just do you! Read Mary Kay ashes Books. She is against everything your saying. Take the free classes. They're FREE and MK legal warns you of all this. Just upsetting to hear this. I had to stop. If you work it how you want it does work. I mean your director was a director so she was successful in some way or she wouldn't have the title..you get that by recurring customers not your downline only..thats 3% commission versus 50% from customers who reorder. Idk..just sickening all around. never go against your gut, thats Gods voice! just say NO. My director tells us about all kinds of things, I don't do them all because I can't afford everything. I'm not a director yet..but it honestly works for you. The products are great and 100% refundable. Why didn't you return them? If you need help just reach out. I can give you any info you need. You do have 1 year from purchase to return all your products so if its not for you, and its not for everyone, they'll refund you the purchased amount you spent on products. Sorry but seriously lmk if you need contact info for mk corp.
@aprilmatis2 ай бұрын
No the company will purchase all the product back. I don't get a check from mk either. Sorry you had such a horrible experience! I would call mk corporate. I'm sure she wasn't pushing or trying to..I did the credit card and paid it off before interest hit. I never paid interest on my mk card. You should use the products and like them. Also the coffee is a tax write off..I just did my 1st year taxes and wow saved, got a return! You don't have to do a booth. It's YOUR buisness. I have a LP. I've chosen to do a booth but it's against company policy to sell from a booth! BIG NO NO!! Not sure what kind of people you got involved with..just sad! I've been very successful and thank God nobody tells me what to do, it's my buisness and I push nobody to do anything 💯 % sad for you. I offer people a peice of gum they say no it's okay. I don't like how you say mk pushed you..this is not MK way at all. I sold at 24 for 10 years and never had put money into inventory it took about a year using 10% of my sales to build or I'd order and they'd wait until I placed the order. I didn't ever allow anyone to call my recruits. Sounds like this wasn't for you😢. Sorry you had a bad experience!

The money is typically to pay for the room where the meetings are held. I've been a Mary Kay consultant twice for a combined total of 33 years. I love the sisterhood and the products are great. Yes, the diamonds are real. Just like diet and exercise, you get out of it what you put into it and yes. It's not always easy. One of my favorite things to do is warm chat. As for having to put in some of your money, I don't know of any business that you don't do that and yes. It 100% is a business. Anytime you receive money for products or services and pay taxes on your earnings, it's a business. Mary Kay actually operates as a duel marketing company. Pyramid schemes are illegal. When I joined Mary Kay for the first time it was 1981. I got out in 1992 and rejoined in 2002. I'm still friends with and in touch with the woman that recruited me in 1981. She's not there just yet but she has been a consultant for close to 50 years. The one thing I wholeheartedly agree with you about is putting inventory on a credit card. I would never tell someone to do that. My director and I live about 1500 miles from one another so I don't go to meetings now. Covid certainly didn't help on that score. I do however go to networking events.

I’m so sorry you had that experience!!! I have heard of teams that are like that. I’m so grateful my team is not. Yes, there’s a bit of pushing you out of your comfort zone as with any independent marketing business. But we don’t have to pay for weekly meetings or coffee. Our director does all our opportunity calls and the women are fully aware it is an opportunity call, same with “orientation”/inventory. We have great trainings and are not required to “go to everything”. We are definitely an at your own pace team, and I think that makes a huge difference! I’m so sorry again for your experience!! I had an Aunt who went through the same thing with a team like that also and she will occasionally buy products from me because they are good products but she refuses to even think about signing up again. And I totally understand, because I’ve done MLMs where I sunk money in and ended up in massive debt, I had horrible experiences with SeneGence, Tupperware and Aloette! I truly believe the team is what makes the difference and I’m sorry you had an awful team!!

I am a current mkc and I've been wanting to quit too. The pressure is too much the expenses are too expensive. And if you don't place your whole 250 purchase in the same order, shipping and tax makes the 50% profit b.s. I barely made 3% and even lost money on some. Thank you for exposing this. ❤

So sorry this happened to you!! I ended up over $10K in debt bc of MK! That wasn’t fun….thank God my hubby is so amazing! I was told the same things….‘you’ve got an atm at all times’ (in the form of inventory that no one wanted!!) SEMINAR?! Yeah that was EXPENSIVE and honestly, just another way to pump you up about buying more products, and pushing harder for recruitment and sales!

I am not a person who is comfortable being pushy so that always worked against me being really successful in MK. However, I have used the products for almost 30 years, order once a year and give lots of MK gifts. LOL.
@ISing4Jesus63533 ай бұрын
Not all of them are pushy...I wasn't pushy because I didn't care to grow an empire...I just wanted to sell product. But, yes some can be pushy. I hated seeing some director's pushing young newbies to get a credit card and go into debt. I never had to pay for a meeting! That's ridiculous!

I’m so sorry you had that experience. The unit I’m with does not do that. I have never been pressured to do anything I did not want to do. I have never been pressured to invest, recruit, vendor markets, or anything. I do not have a team and they do not question me about it. It’s always what I choose to do and they support that. Unfortunately , just like any other company, a good thing in the wrong hands gets exploited for personal gain. I’m sorry they made you feel that way. That’s not what Mary Kay Ash would want them to do. That’s not the reason she started the company. It’s too bad that you came in contact with people like that. I assure you we are not all like that.

I became Mary Kay with the old wives' tale "extra income", with extra income you go into debt. Everything is beautiful and pink, you can do it! After three months working as a consultant, I realized that you bother people, deceive people, take on debt to stay on the program. The person who puts you through this is the one who wins, and leaves a trail of people in debt. You lose if you don't participate in the programs, in the programs you support the company. The illusion of mothers who are working from home. She's at home but she can't keep her mind on her children, she pays people to stay with them (that was the example I had), she was bitter towards her husband and her marriage, she thought she was superior than others.

A true MK Consultant should know the difference between being motivated and money hungry. I’m so sorry you had this experience. You SHOULD NOT have had to pay to go to a meeting. This makes me so mad. I’m so sorry!!

Many of these things really make me sad. My experience has not been like this. A lot of things that you were told to do are absolutely NOT required to do and it is so shameful that the director that you had trained her people to say things to pressure you. I cannot believe that they told you to tell your friends that they didn't support you because they didn't buy. This is disgusting. Please know that many of these things are not company endorsed and individual directors or consultants are misrepresenting things. Durin company official trainings they are very careful to tell us not to misrepresent.

My wife is watching this video sitting next to me and I heard the words "Mary Kay crap" which prompts this comment. To Melissa, it's sad that you PROBABLY didn't read Mary Kay Ash's autobiography and recognize how different Mary Kay's philosophy is from the leadership you were exposed to. Re meetings, it costs next to nothing to meet a potential customer knee to knee and explain the products. Within a consultation, you have the opportunity to provide value to your customers and that builds loyalty. Sorry this happened to you.

When I was invited to a Mary Kay afternoon I was shocked and confused that half of it was sat in a weird presentation. I went for the facial and to look at products that I might want to buy I had no idea what was going on. It was all very odd. At this Mary Kay afternoon in my mid twenties I was sat in front of two middle aged women (with TERRIBLE make up....ironically) in skirt suits doing this bizarre presentation about working for them and driving a pink cadillac !! WTF ❓️❓️❓️❓️❓️❓️

Mary Kay is a major scam. Rule #1: ALWAYS RESEARCH SOMETHING BEFORE GETTING INVOLVED IN IT. GOOGLE IT, ASK AROUND, USE YOUR COMMON SENSE. I feel bad for you. You were super vulnerable and impressionable. They saw that. My brothers old girlfriend got involved with Mary Kay after college and she got SUPER cocky and snooty the more she got involved. We all new it was a scam, a cult but she wouldn’t listen.
