That's mostly correct. The combo actually has a version for most (if not all) the characters in the game, though. I uploaded this as the "basic" one because this exact one works on approximately half the cast without any modifications. Rest of them require a different combination of normals, such as j.5a j.2a cancels, 2a, a different number of jabs, f.Xs, etc. You kinda need to get the hang on how long the clones last to be able to pull all the variations out (either by literally counting/instinctively knowing, or giving each attack you use a time value and always build the combos based on it). The real reason people don't go for this is, of course, the complexity of the combo (despite it not being really all that hard compared to other fighting games timing requirements), the fact you can get punished if you mess up (You can very easily eat a game changing reversal if you mess up the dash link), and the fact you have a very good option in 5aaa f.2a f.5a 6b 623c for 4.1k that basically has the same startup. 4.1k is extremely good for a 2cards spellcard, and it still does roughly 3k damage with GC scaling.

The thing is that guy launched a backwards 6a and hit me in the air... Also, what you stated is not necesary true, since Youmu is way too fast, and any melee Komachi whiffes leaves her in a very bad position. For Youmu will be pretty easy to bait and punish simple melee. A good Youmu will not fly blindly to Komachi to eat an AUB attack.

zLayer a closest contenders would be Suika, Suwako and all other melees.

Earl Vic Longakit Suika is a pretty even matchup for Youmu. Suwako's matchup is in Youmu's favour. Reimu would be a hard matchup for Youmu, cause her bullets are really annoying for her to get in, pluss her j.5a is a really really strong tool to keep people away.

That's a mod a guy called Tessiro is developing. One of it appeals is that it removes limit from the game. It also adds a lot of new stuff to all the characters.

Well, I was actually pretty bad back then, but yeah, I've been in tourneys a bouch of times! Do you have somewhere to play? If not, PM me and I'll send you places where you can go and find people to play with.

zLayer I'm not as good, actually. I can only win 75% against hard AI and win 25% against lunatic AI. other than that, I've never played netplay (because I haven't yet port forwarded and no one else asks me to play on his game IP). To wrap it up, I'm pretty much outdated on game knowledge. All I do is test, list all combos, watch weather etc.

zLayer It appears you're mostly top 1 or 2 in these Touhou tournaments so congrats.
