If range and load capacity is not a huge deal, I would recommend the Aventon Abound as I always have. It caps off at level two meaning it does not go faster than 28 miles an hour which I feel is more than adequate for most people. That is also the legal limit. Most people like the torque sensor that it has, but I do prefer the cadence sensor of the XPedition. When doing research, you will always find people saying that torque sensor is superior to cadence sensor, but it is really a matter of preference. They operate very differently.

Just got mine from Ali Express (paid about $10 each for two sets) and tried them tonight, they are great! Really appreciate the video and the link. One question: Is there any way to turn off the remote? It blinks the last button pressed about every 3 seconds, I can only guess that this will drain the remote tater quickly? But there's nothing in the instructions about turning it off and I tried a bunch of different button presses to no avail. If you can tell me a way to turn it off I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!
@Funcentric
@Funcentric 4 күн бұрын
Yes! There is a way. The blinking remote tells you it is on stand by mode. You have to press the circle button until the blue light stops blinking. Depending on what mode you are in, you may have to press it multiple times. Yes, when still blinking, it is in standby mode and indeed drains battery.

I'm not trying to be anal here.... but what you referred to as "caliper bolts" are actually cap screws; they are not bolts. A bolt uses a nut and a open-end wrench or socket to facilitate the tightening and a cap screw utilizes an internal Allen-Hex-Key or Allen Hex Wrench in combination with onboard internal treads or welded or brazed on bosses! To eliminate metal fender noise, use spray on automotive undercoating on inner surface and use nylon washers or what's refereed to as plumber faucet washers at fender mounting points. I would also use a stainless steel washer and lock washer over the nylon or faucet washers to keep connect points snug; excellent video! 👍👍👍❗

What if you were just looking for a road bike that could give you some help on the hills/mountain roads? Surely even a 36v hub motor could be fine?
@Funcentric
@Funcentric 7 күн бұрын
Yes, that’s true. But remember even hen you’ré not looking for assist, you’d be hauling the full weight of both the battery and motor 100% of the time. So very inefficient. You’ll likely have more energy to attack the hills with a bike that didn’t have that extra weight.
@Funcentric
@Funcentric 7 күн бұрын
Also there’s something called voltage sag which affects smaller batteries much more. A bike with a small motor likely has a small battery and you’ll experience voltage sag a lot more. Basically less sustained power through hills. Haha. So yeah you’ll likely not really want an a bike for that use. The ebike components pretty much cancels itself out.
@Millicente
@Millicente 7 күн бұрын
@@Funcentric I don't know what you mean my voltage sag but a full hub motor system if something like the x20 from mahle only adds 3.9 kg or so i think. Even at 36v the motor's gotta pump out enough power to offset 4kg surely. It seems to be understood that even for very tough climbs it doesn't take much watts of power to offset that kind of weight. If you left it on the lowest assist mode it could still add something for people who have bad knees or something where they can't pedal as hard as they'd like
@Funcentric
@Funcentric 7 күн бұрын
@@Millicente if that’s the situation, I’d recommend a cadence sensor over a torque sensor. A torque sensor would demand more pressure to be put on the pedal to result in the same level of assist. The higher the ah, the lower the voltage sag. Practically all electric road bikes will have tiny batteries built into the frame. This is a problem not only for long term replacement needs of the battery but voltage sag. Voltage sag basically means that there’s a temporary drop in available voltage while under load. This is much more apparent with smaller ah sized batteries. You’ll experience much better sustained power through a higher ah rated battery. In other words, the design of an electric road bike by nature is much more susceptible to voltage sag which is the weak point in the technology we have currently. My electric cargo bike for instance experienced a very noticeable drop in performance once it goes under about 50% battery capacity and it’s got a 28ah battery.

They’re slightly both. LCD screens do get somewhat distorted which is a common side effect of polarized lenses. Colors aren’t super vivid like you’d see with brand names ones. The darkening and lightening (photochromic) is very minimal. So indeed they are both which is what’s ridiculous about a $3 pair of glasses. Lens Crafters tried to charge me $700 for those features on a custom frame with prescription (not including the frames themselves. Goes to show how much of a markup we are paying at retailers. Not a secret anymore which is why they’re all dying off at malls.

I don’t have much experience with bike racks other than a traditional one I owned decades ago and more recently the KAC K4. It has all the features including it being lockable to the hitch and each bike itself is also lockable. Meets the weight requirement for my e-bikes and is expandable from 2 to 3 to 4 bikes. It also can angle out to make clearance for the rear hatch to open. I got a crazy deal when they accidentally priced it wrong for less than 24 hours. Can be expensive at regular pricing though. It does not have a ramp. For a ramp, you’ll likely be getting a motorcycle rack which doesn’t have space for each individual tire. It’s more of just a flat surface with four edges. I believe harbor freight has something but you’ll need to buy a ramp separately.
