I don’t care for the split screen. Are they doing the same thing?? Usually like your videos. :-)
@BoldNotionQuilting8 күн бұрын
@ellenpalmer8571 they are doing the same thing at the same time thank you for the feedback. I thought it was neat and worth a try.

Does sewing the few stitches in place at the beginning and end really lock the thread enough? I’ve always been concerned it would come loose with a bit of jostling when the quilt is completed.
@BoldNotionQuilting8 күн бұрын
@michelleday397 yes it does!! But I forward and back stitch like 5 thread lengths
@robbieknapik674511 күн бұрын
Looks pretty straightforward. I think I’m going to attempt this before I load my next quilt. Also looks like I can use my channel lock once I’ve sewn the first 6” or so.

I like the size of this ruler. Makes me think I might actually be able to use rulers more comfortably as it's smaller & easy to control.

Thank you, that was very helpful advice. I see you're using it in your left hand. Is that the ruler for a right handed person? I ask because I'm right handed but I hold the ruler in my left hand when quilting. BTW, I wish I could have seen the whole quilt, it sure looks cute!

What a great tip...as usual! Lauren, I watched your video from a while back that has helped me so much. In it you discussed needle deflection and how to cope with it. I am trying to help another quilter and I would like to know which video it was. Thank you for all your videos!

I make so many videos I'm not sure which one talks about needle flex. I'm so sorry about that

This is a very cool tool. 6:00 Isa good starting position, however most longarm needles are actually in the :25 or :35 position.
@BoldNotionQuiltingАй бұрын
I know alot of people do that.. and for the most part they realy shouldn't have to. It all has to do with needle deflection, I work on longarm machines (apqs, handiquilter, gammil) and if it's timed right the needle should be at the 6:00 position for good stitches for most quilting. other variables can cause the needle to need to be turned to give good stitches when the needle hits resistance and overflexes because it can minimize the flex in the wrong direction, if turning is something you have to do all the time you might find that your timing might be slightly off or maybe you need thicker needles for your projects. if you're consistently not getting good stitches at 6. either way the needle magnets let you see the rotation of the needle wherever you want it to be to get good stitching for your machine..

I'm really interested in the black light. How does that work? Is it thread specific or ??? It really improves visibility!
@BoldNotionQuilting4 ай бұрын
Black Light is not available on all machine models. You need to make sure your machine has a black light or can have one. And it only works with specific threads that are black light compatible. I have a whole kit of black light compatible threads on my website on boldnotionquilting.com.

I loved the old ones, really dislike the new ones. They will not hold one layer of fabric and it takes both hands to use them
@BoldNotionQuilting4 ай бұрын
The old ones use to just split, the new ones I like to use with a 1 inch strip of batting and it hold everything nicely ! 1inch by however long your snappers are. That might be of help to you.

Then you have to get creative with using something like that. There are tape measures like the zero cwnterr that aren't for mounting just laying over the quilt
