And now 90% of the capability of the tree to produce food via photosynthesis was removed.

Are you saying that we need to take the tube off periodically to prune or this is from a lack of not pruning before you put the tube on? Thanks in advance.

If I decide to sprout my acorns in a pot, how soon can I plant them so that a squirrel will not want to come and ruin it?

I have that exact same highly specialized acorn planting hammer myself. Been using it for years.

Pruning is definitely necessary though not that amount, especially in young trees. The idea of wasting energy in side branches makes no sense since the energy of the tree comes from the leaves, in other words more leaves more growth! Now, having said that you do need to prune to divert the energy of those leaves. Typically, you would let the branches be, but shorten them to 1 to 2 feet of the trunk. In the case of the tubes I would have shorten all those side branches to 3 to 4 inches leaving some leaves to help thicken the trunk, it will also help them grow faster. I do agree that in those forked crotches one needed to be removed completely.

Won't pruning the tree more than 25% cause water sprouts? This is regarding a tree that was not pruned initially and had a lot of growth in the tube. Can pruning be done in steps? Or is it best to completely prune a small tree?

How many times a year do you spray the herbicides?
@TreeProtectionSupply5 жыл бұрын
Typically, if you spray late spring/early summer with a hot enough solution, that is enough to keep the trees in a free to grow condition until next year. Usually if you spray for 2 - 3 years in a row, the weed base will diminish to where you won't need to spray again for several years.

Thank you so much for making this video. I purchased the tree pro split tube from A.M. Leonard it includes 15 zip ties plus 1bundle TMC that I'm assuming are the small nets. As a NO EXPERIENCED home homeowner that only knows grass is green, that is equipment with no directions can be a disaster. Your video answered one of my questions, please make a video on proper way to use zip tie (I didn't know about the little lever that allows you to move it back n forth) and how to install the small nets and what it's for and how it works.

Request for information/quote" "Dear Madam, Dear Sir, Environmental Buddies, Zimbabwe is an environmental NGO in Zimbabwe which aims to promote sustainable forests resources management and waste management in Zimbabwe. As such, we have developed several tree planting projects in Zimbabwe and are looking to do more (for more information, please check our website www.environmentalbuddies.org) Since tree planting is done in rural areas, trees are prone to predators like livestock and wild animals, hence the need to protect them until they are fully grown. To this end, we have been looking into alternatives to fencing to protect trees, as fencing is very costly, our funds are limited and the need for tree-planting ever increasing. This is precisely how we discovered your selection of products and more particularly the tree tubes which cannot be sourced locally in Southern Africa. More specifically, we would be interested in tree tubes that are longer than 1 metre and which can withstand temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius. We would be most interested in finding out more about your product, and whether, in your view, this would be appropriate for our tree-planting activities. We wish to carry out a pilot project with possibly a sample of 100 tubes, and would like to know whether for such order you offer discounts and would ship to Zimbabwe. I remain at your disposal, should you have any queries, and look forward to hearing from you. Thanking you in advance for your answer, Yours sincerely" CEO, Environmental Buddies, Zimbabwe

Would it be better to prune it in the fall when it's dormant so it doesn't get any diseases in the cuts?

You cut a lot of leaves off shouldn't you have left a little more so to generate energy?

@@TheHollowBodiesBand by putting them into the ground in the fall they should not need stratification, it is what happens in nature.

I have Sawtooth Oaks, Swamp Chestnut Oaks, Persimmons, Crabapples and Chickasaw Plums. They are about 1-2ft out of the tubes. Would you suggest that I trim all the limbs except for the main vertical branch? Is it okay to do this in the summertime in Mississippi?
@Randomelectronics2611 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback came in handy i will upload video of before and after thanks for taken time to read my fedback and responding to it.
@TreeProtectionSupply11 жыл бұрын
yes, pruning the tree before you install the tree tube will all for the tree to not waste energy on growing the limbs and put energy into growing the main bud upwards. The maples especially will respond quickly and as long as you prune it during the dormant season the tree will be just fine at the young of an age. Once the tree grows above the top of the tree tube, it will then begin to put on lateral branching.
@Randomelectronics2611 жыл бұрын
Should I do this with a Maple Tree or any type of tree before planting it like Seedlings that r 3 to 4 Feed tall? or to it after I plant it or not touch the Maple Tree at all got one from Arbor day for free my free Maple I will be posting before after after in a Video what it looks like what I plain to do.

The decision on how to prune your hazelnut trees is whether you want a thicket or trees. The hazelnuts produce suckers and by pruning the trees and suckers back you will allow the tree to put all its energy into growing more than supporting all of its suckers and excessive branches.
@iwpoe12 жыл бұрын
I want to use tree tubes on my hazelnut tree plants this fall, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to prune the trees. Hazelnut trees tend to split low to the ground, and I don't know if I should allow them to do that or try to make them taller.
