He was my favorite VJ when he was on VH-1! I wrote him a fan letter and he kindly replied. I got to see him in his one-man show off Broadway, and when he came through the audience at the end, I got a hug from him. I had discovered that he was on Twitter (X) this year and gave him a shout out, and was flattered that he remembered me! I'll miss his sense of humor and his vast knowledge of film history. My condolences go out to his family.

One last reply. First thanks for the obscure Cagney review as I have never heard about this. Sounds fascinating and no one could cut someone down to size like Jimmy C. Joe Pesci, relax player I didn’t forget about you. 😂. My final comment sir is I remember when Michelle Shocked had a video for “Green” and she was in the studio either guest hosting or being interviewed by you or so someone and I thought she was so chic for a folkie. Did you hear her a couple years back about her racist and homophobic remarks to a journalist? Didn’t know if you knew that. The age of trump and it’s not worth capitalizing his name, has shown just how little we have actually progressed with closeted racist and fake Christians being as big a threat as international terrorist are. Sorry for ranting I just would like to wake up one day out of the week without that borderline illiterate doing or saying something horrible and people cheering it. Thinking back to 1989 and the year prior to that I remember you interviewing big names like McCartney, and your entertainment news before KZfaq and satellite tv and thought how fast the time has gone and how there isn’t real talent like yourself and in place today anyone can do it with no clue to the history of movies and music before 1983. Sad, very sad. KZfaq had some amateurs that do a better job then most entertainment shows. “ E “ use to be good but that guy Steve from the 90’s with glasses left the show and it went downhill after that. I’m done venting. I wish you a healthy and happy rest of your life and thank you for taking a minute to respond back. Very cool. You don’t need to reply back since this was just a rant while waiting for a train to go by. 😀☮️💙

Side note. Visited college roommate in LA one summer; a family member worked at 20th Studios. Got special tour, even visited the set of movie being filmed. It was Walter Hill's THE DRIVER. Maybe during Ashley Boone's tenure.

I am the biggest...the biggest! Diana Ross fan. She can do no wrong in my book. I am also a big admirer of Motown the label, the music and the legacy but,I understand why Diana left in 1980. As she put it ,she was like anyone who lived at home all their life and then you want to move out an experience life on your own. Motown was great for Diana Ross and she was magnificent for the label in what she help do for it. However, if Motown's reputation of wanting to have full control of the artists continued in to the 80's as its practice, Diana would never have had much freedom to do what she wanted musically or otherwise. The 20 million dollar contract certainly wouldn't have been offered by Motown that she got from RCA. Maybe us Ross fans and the world would have gotten to see more great work if Diana stayed at Motown. But, if she had not gone to RCW, would she have been able to do the central park concert in 83, produce the many songs she did on the RCA albums, or start her own management company RTC among many other great things she did while with RCA. There's so much to wonder about. I think she did great after she left Motown despite what some may say was not the best move. It's 2018 and she is a legend who is highly celebrated.

Bobby Rivers, I just read your tribute to actress Sylvia Sidney and "When Mars Attacks" , then watched your commentary on the 2016 Oscars lack of diversity for women of color. Needless to say, you are an incredible broadcaster, I watched on TV growing up, and have missed you. Hope to find more of your content on KZfaq, and if not, please realize that your intelligent, eloquence is sorely missed on MSM TV .

At 2:45, you can see exactly why Bobby Rivers needs to have his own show: his research is astounding Note the reaction by Peter Tolan to the lead-in to the question that Bobby asks. It's obvious that even the interviewees are deeply impressed by Bobby's knowledge and the depth of his research. Also, you can tell that the interviewees are immediately at ease in speaking with Bobby for the fact that BR speaks the language as someone who has been there and done that. Networks--PLEASE!! Give Bobby Rivers his own show....!!
