i paint cash register receipts, pages from appliances installation manuals and such with acrylic paints so that some of the original text still shows and then stamp like mad on top with my home-made stamps. i use those papers in my collages and love them. absolutely agree with you that it is much much more satisfying to create something nice from almost scratch than to create with expensive tools and supplies. I make journal covers with pieces of my old clothes. etc. and i totally can buy new stuff, i am just not excited about creations made with them (that diminishes a bit the point of crafting, in my opinion).

These are so fun and whimsical, and, as usual, you always add an artistic flair to whatever you do. We live in Peanuts country here in Northern California where Charles Schulz had his studio and lived for many years until he died. We have a beautiful museum and ice skating rink as well. Thank you Helen.

Congratulations on your 100th video! I didn't think this was going to work, but it did. I recognised some of that junk mail - I have been keeping that gold envelope as well 😂! Another junk mail thing I like to use is photos of doors and windows from estate agents' leaflets. They look good cut out and stuck on to other papers to make quirky houses, especially on a non-house shape, such as a mushroom, teapot or boot.
@journalingplanet4 ай бұрын
That's very funny that we are hoarding the same junk mail. 😂 I agree about windows and doors. They are always worth cutting out. Never thought about mushrooms and teapots. That sounds great.

These turned out nice! Especially for a first attempt. I have resisted buying one too. Kind of pricey for one thing. TFS! 😄

The small one I got was very reasonable but I imagine the bigger ones are more of an investment. Another reason I wanted to start small. You can use styrofoam sheets for a similar surface effect with the paint. I saw that on the Book and Paper Arts channel.
@Wyldwood-Dangles4 ай бұрын
The thinner the paper, the easier it is to get the paint in between the stencil openings.

Yes, that makes sense, thank you! I was using thin copier paper for my first try. I will experiment with other papers too. ❤️
