It's the "waste heat" from fossil fuel burning and the "Greenhouse effect" that is melting the ice. Too many humans, particularly in massive urban/suburban concentrations, are using too many natural resources and producing too much pollution and heat energy. Polymath Eliot Jacobson estimates that we are pumping the heat energy equivalent of 20 Hiroshima yield nuclear bomb blasts PER SECOND into the environment, where each one releases 63 trillion BTU's. We are currently 3,000 times more numerous than were our ancestral migratory Hunter-Gatherers/pastoralists (like the Sami) who lived in a sustainable ecologically balanced relationship with nature. What could go wrong? Everything?

The denial shown in the comments shows that nothing will be done until it is too late. I spent a couple of years on Banks Island, NWT, Canada in the 1970s. It was reeling from a wolf poisoning program that wiped out the wolves. With out the wolves to cull the sick out of the Caribou herds, massive epidemics wiped out the remaining caribou. Then in the 1990s the first ever rain on snow event covered the entire island with a layer of ice and all the musk ox , caribou and most of the wildlife starved in one winter. In just a few short decades, man has completely destroyed an Arctic paradise that was once as populated as the plains in Africa but is now an essentially dead desert. Of course, there was virtually no coverage of this catastrophe by main stream media.

We travel every year because people from all over come here. That's how I feel about my home. The tourists give me the experience of being where they're from. I love it! I call it vicarious travel! The best way to keep out nonnative species is to employ dogs trained to find invasive species locally. Teaching dog training locally will give local people work. It's a win-win situation! We should really do that.

I assume that the "we" that you reference is you, and others, who have bought the scare scam. Pure politics.. so you should be happy in your misery together! .. or you should consider just studying the claims and the fullness of the science. The truth will set you free! A good place to start might be the "Unsettled" Book by Steven Koonin.. you will be more confident.. and I won't charge you a cent for your happiness.

The "propaganda machine" is anything but silent. Have you seen the items popping up on social media propagated by the beef industry? Showing a nice cow eating grass and saying how could Daisy be doing any harm? They don't tell you that the combined weight of the world's Daisies is now on a par with the combined weight of every wild mammal on earth - from blue whales to pygmy shrews. It's so hard for people to take in the sheer scale of human activity, it's so new, so beyond what previous experience taught - and the money men make use of that understandable failing.

I doesn't help my despair to see how few views this beautifully made film has received. It's a canary-in-the-coal-mine story, KZfaq recommended it to me because I have interest in people like Jason Box and Natalia Shakhova. Subscribed. Nobody I know would watch it if I shared it. I just saw 'Climate Adam' minimizing James Hansen's recent crie de coeur, Global Warming in the Pipeline as only one of many papers, but getting attention from catastrophizers like Sabine Hossenfelder because Hansen is a 'celebrity'.

I have noticed that when we stay within the boundaries of natural processes, damaging events were less often. Now that we rely heavily on science with its synthetic processes the natural world is changing to suit our way of living. Therefore abandon science and synthetic materials and synthetic processes. What is the probability of that change occurring. We will change but that change will not be voluntary and it will cause a lot of suffering, maybe even extinction.

Yes, thanks for the content! The destabilizing effects of a warmer world on the coldest parts is a huge cause for concern. Although the arctic population is low now, it might not stay that way if we keep warming up, and knowing what to look out for is important. Of course the way to stabilize this is to reduce fossil fuel emissions wherever, and whenever we can.

LoL! "Fourty percent less ice cover than 1979." Okay. That was the height of the "coming ice age" scare. There were men on the moon in 1969, and polar satellites were taking pictures of the earth. Granted, their primary purpose was spying, but we have space based pictures of the ice. Why does NASA start its graph in 1979? Because that was a maximum year, and NASA is cherry-picking the start time of the graph. Why would they do that? Nay, ask first IF they did that. Follow the data, then ask the deeper question. Good luck. PS Atmospheric CO2 has gone up because of burning carbon from the ground. Don't degrade science with name-calling. For instance, the ECS is said to vary between 1 and 8 degrees C. That is NOT settled science! If your wages varied between $1k and $8k per month, would you call those settled wages? Especially if those wages averaged $0.6k per month? I'm guessing you'd want some answers...

I installed a Planetary Air Conditioner. It operates on the albedo effect. My prototype ejects enough heat into space to prevent 250 tons of ice from melting per year. It uses no electricity, and the cooling shows up in my house in the summer. $200 spent eight years ago, and it's still working. That's 10k tons of ice saved per dollar, and that with NO government funding. What is your heat footprint?
