not sure what your drone is as well Trevor, I can't remember but it should have a "follow" function in it where you can set a POI (the vehicle) in the centre and the drone will follow and keep the vehicle centre so the shot won't be as jumpy

Enjoying your Kimberley series 👍. Giving me plenty of info for my planning if a similar trip. Have noted your recent reviews of the little Austrack camper. Given the choice would you do the trip with the RTT or the camper? Cheers
@trevorhendy1
@trevorhendy1 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the support and encouragement. Hmmm, great question. I would start by saying they are both awesome ways to travel. We have done quite a few trips with the camper since the Kimberley RTT trip and we are really falling in love with that style of travel. RTT doesn’t slow you down, virtually at all, on any track. Camper makes you think twice about some tracks, climbs, ruts etc. The Austrack in particular follows us absolutely everywhere, completely tough enough to go anywhere. The question becomes will my little Pajero sport get up the same slippery creek exit with it, haha. For those bits you just need a winch. I love the RTT travel style, absolutely. Right now if I did it again, I would absolutely take the Austrack SImpson X because I’ve tested it and it is perfect for it. We love how much more we can take without overcrowding our vehicle, plus the extra water, fuel, ease to get in to kitchen and fridge, it is a no brainier. Hope that helps. I think we are Camper trailer guys now, with the odd RTT on short fun trips.

The P900, 950 and 1000 are absolutely amazing cameras. The camera has strengths and limitations. If you want full frame quality from this camera, it is not for you. If you think that you can go no lower than APS-C sensor then it is not for you. But if you want one of the most fun cameras ever to preserve your memories of things you have done in your life … then this is the “ant’s pants” of all cameras. The ZOOM in these cameras is just fantastic, almost beyond belief. I actually shot a picture of Pluto with my P900. It is not a NASA quality shot but to do it with a $600 dollars camera other than a multi-Billion dollars space programme is truly, truly remarkable. Cheers, and get creative.

Couldn’t have said that better myself Brian. Thanks for leaving a comment and the thoughtfulness attached to it. It really is a ripper of a rig and still strapped to my side wherever I go. I’ve got a bunch of cool shots that sneak their way into my 4wdriving videos as I travel around Australia, in just those moments where that long lens captures something that you wouldn’t otherwise get. Go well.

Trevor this made me smile over and over. Thank you. I recently purchased this camera and this is why. Of course I'm curious whether you were in Manual mode for these video shots. Also I wonder if I will have a hand as steady at the long end. So many of these shots are stunning and just fun. As you say in the description I love your vision or POV and celebrate how you use both the limitations and the capability of this tool to bring your vision to us. So the family is surfing and you maybe get a quick hike in to capture the scene from various distances. I'm sure this added to everyone's enjoyment afterwards to celebrate the day. Sparks much creative thinking for how this tool could bring family together. But what I smiled most at were the wildlife shots. Do birds smile? You captured them at ease being themselves. Beautiful creatures set to calming music. Even the creative stills playing with light and color demonstrate creativity and skill. Well done. I realize it's so long ago know you might not recall what modes and settings you were using. But I would love to know your favorite video settings for the big beach shots. Again, I can't thank you enough for just demonstrating the value of sharing experiences with loved ones.

Thank you Timothy. What a beautiful comment you’ve left and much appreciated mate. I love that you noticed almost what I was thinking as I was putting the video together. Really is an amazing camera and I’m still so stoked with it. Just checking in from an off grid trip and I’ll have to look at those settings when I get back because I can’t recall right now, ha ha. I know there was a mixture of manual and different auto modes as I was working through all of them in the initial stages. It certainly is an easy camera to pick up and just pump it out in auto. Go well mate, enjoy your journeys.

Thanks ❤ How about the 950 vs 1000? On terrestrial targets MAYBE it doesn't matter if it's 3000 or 2000 mm. But check out those Astrophotos made with the P1000...! That's a huge difference! Can't decide... 😢

Yes completely understand. I think it is such a personal thing hey, I wanted the 1000 until I considered carry size, the 950 was launched right when I needed it, compromise between 900 and 1000. Still love the camera, does the job for me. I have the occasional, ‘aah, I’d love the 1000 right now’

@trevorhendy1
@trevorhendy1 5 ай бұрын
Hey Greg, Apologies If i hadn’t replied to this before, I thought I had but can’t see a reply. Mate, I absolutely love the Paj sport, blows me away, smaller, lighter, more fuel efficient, cheaper to buy, cheaper to run, register and insure than almost any other wagon I have seen. It has taken us everywhere. Unbelievable in sand. I had an issue with electronic park brake that pops its head up occasionally but I am stoked with it. Gets a bit heavier on fuel when fully loaded with RTT or trailer behind, not quite the power to push the wind or tow the weight without sucking more fuel, but still only peaks at about 15L per 100km on a bad run. Hope that helps.

20:20 I know its cool to find good angles with sun flares, but I wouldn't do it to long directly in sunlight, seemd on the limit here, filming 5+ seconds directly can be harmfull for the camera , just so you know ;)

Big THUmbs up from Belgium ! I really want this camera, better in every way then the P1000(has only a weak 40+ X zoom extra ;) ) Its a bit still to expensive for me, I will try to buy a Lumix FZ82 with 60x zoom. Its a step back frommy FZ-300 I know, but will keep both. I still have my good old FZ-100 '2011- best Bridge camera back then) still very capable (sound capture was great and had 30 ips full resolution capture -still now its rare to find that performance) but the screen looses connection, can't put it even closed so that it works, thats a pitty, cause all rest works perfectly, but eye viewer has difficulties to work because it thinks screen is always on, eye viewer goes off then :( Sometimes its on depends how close screen is closed.

Even if you cut this video in 1080p you gain a lot by upscaling/exporting the video in 4K before you upload this to KZfaq. With the KZfaq compression in HD, you basically ruin the whole video, especially in a camera review. This needed to be a 4K video at least. Just some advice for the future.

Hello and thank you for this upload. Really nice to see a down to earth at home review instead of these set up table reviews for once. I just bought this camera 2nd hand, and i have never owned a camera nor touched it much. i bought this because its one of the best all around cameras u can get. u got zoom u got macro, u got 4k and its the size of a minivan :D what more can u ask for. I havent received my camera yet, but im wondering, how difficult would u say it would be to learn on this camera compared to a cheap nikon for example ?
