Many of my aunties and uncles told me their ultimate origin was from the Marshall Islands, and when they first came to Pohnpei they TRIED to Conquer Pohnpei, that’s why they are the only clan that isn’t looked down upon when they marry eachother because they were all “Stuck in a hole” or something along those lines

Thank you for sharing this. I am always intrigued listening to stories about the elders' experiences during WWII. It's so scary how the Japanese were good to the people when they first came, but then became extremely strict and cruel to the Marshallese when the war broke out.

Kommol tata. That was mostly because most Japanese were civilians during the prewar period while most Japanese were soldiers during the war period...

This is absolutely wonderful! What a good idea! Oral traditions can potentially be in major danger if no one preserves them!

i'm Tuvaluan and i can fully understand this, what she said at 0:04 "tahi hahine, tahi ana tama te kau noho i Nukuoro" and in Tuvaluan northern dialect "tahi te fafine, tahi tena tama e noho i Nukuoro" which means "one lady, has one child, lives in Nukuoro".
