"Hello, I'm Lee... And I am a Stickaholic." (Doleful chorus: "Hi Lee...") Guilty, as charged; must be my Scots/Irish/Norman roots. (Pun intended.) I cut invasive English hawthorn and other species of hardwoods on my 80-acre wooded property in Oregon and have hundreds of sticks "on the go." With 80-acres of material to choose from, I'll never run out of choices, (and my workshop IS overflowing with candidate sticks for "future" projects for cleaning/scraping and finishing.) The "Twisty Pagan stick" was especially close to my heart, as I have dozens of such. It is a good affliction and I'm not ashamed of my "Stickaholic-ness" If being a Stickaholic is wrong, I will never be right... Cheers and big thumbs-up from a Colonial Stickaholic with Deep UK roots, now in the Willamette Valey, Oregon Country.

The majority of gluten intolerant people are also oat intolerant, just fyi. The study the fda used allowing oats in GF foods, did not include the data of people who got to sick to finish the study thus reducing the number of oat reactions in the study.

Sometimes really nice Scottish or Irish oatmeal is available in tins in regular grocer shops. ...but, no Vegemite. ... [The oatmeal, I think McCann's is one: it's not quick oats] takes a very long time to cook. I could try car-cooking, and just boil it a few times with the window as the main cooker, but if you have a slow cooker version of a recipe, that would be great .

A useful lower tip for walking staffs is a crutch tip, or a cane tip. They are made to grip a surface, and are available in pharmacies. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

It’s quite different to pemmican in terms of ingredients and especially shelf life but it looks like it for sure. Actually edible for most people without needing to choke it down and many people who try it, love it… which isn’t something I’ve heard about pemmican before 😂

The ultimate walking stick for me would be a narwhal tusk or a walrus ding aling , the ding aling stick is more of a club but could be up to 3 feet long

Ahh, I have found my people.😊 I have been a stickaholic for all my life, much to the chagrin of my parents. I, too, am a fan of the jo staff and Eastern weapons including the bokken and suburitu. I am also a fan of Cold Steel and their variety of extremely tough polypropylene weapons. I recommend checking them out.

The country has become a laughing stock.😳Promoting a begging bowl culture, desperately clinging on to a delusional past. All other Brits are quite frankly appalled at a backward thinking society, inevitably going downhill fast.

On the topic of nutrient dense foods, in the protein department, brewer’s yeast is an incredible source of protein as well as other vitamins It’s also incredibly light, and reasonably well available, even in a historic setting I would guess. If you combined that and bannock you’d probably have the superest food

Great video, loved listening to you go through your collection. Just quickly wanted to say that in Australia the term aborigines is considered outdated and in some cases it's even considered a slur by many indigenous people. Aboriginal is the more preferred term now, although if you know the name of the specific indigenous group that's even better. I totally understand why you used the word that you did, but I just thought it was important to let you know that it's outdated.

I can relate. Lots of sticks... I'm a sucker for hickory. My treasured hickory jo from Kingfisher Wood Works is at the top of my list. I also have one of their walking sticks which is an everyday go to. But I have maple and dogwood skull crackers. A lead weighted blackthorn shillelagh. Of course, lots of knives, machetes, kukris, Indian tulwars, a couple of spears, And I'm American, so a few guns. Plenty of ammo. Every man should have some type of an arsenal.

I keep a nice shillelagh type stick made from Dogwood with a nice little knob on the end in my van. Wicked dense! Alas, I only have four other sticks in various links. Old tool/broom handles are good candidates for your collection. Cheers! Love your stuff.
