Thank you for this. If at all possible one day, I would really appreciate a tutorial on how to load a song with no midis and manually map it. There are so many songs I would love to play on Paradiddle and happy to put in the work to map them, but I just don't even know where to begin with ParEdit. Thanks.

yes. Even the maps I use midi for, i will go through and correct. Bc 9,999 out of 10,000 Mido are very misaligned or incorrect to what the drummer is doing in certain spots. So I go through by hand. Very very painstakingly paying close attention and analyzing it. That's somthing I cannot teach unfortunately but I can teach the tricks I use to do it and yes I do plan on releasing a full series ive been meaning to do for some time.

In my SteamVR Settings, my Current OpenXR Runtime says SteamVR. I cant figure out how to change it. I followed everything up until this point. Any ideas?

@BeefBrothBased you need to Lauch the game via the exact method with the exact settings must go to the game prefdernces within steam and set to force open VR and in virtual desktop you want to use VDXR this will run the game in open XR. And you will see this option withing the steam dash settigns letting you know you are in Virtual desktop Runtime. But also ofcourse you must kill all stram and meta running or else steam will still attempt to launch the game.

actually yea. it was the same tama kit portnoy used in dream theater just stripped down. to the tube toms, top rack, the floor toms from the right throne.

file permissions, maybe need to jsut reset the sytem, this was recorded using the built in quest 2 recording, but boosted resolution and fov from sidequest settings

I have not come into contact with midi, but I think I can add midi device support to my game, but I don’t know if your midi device can connect to quest. If it is a pc, I can confirm that it is supported. This is why I Third-party peripherals are not considered because I can't find those peripherals supported by quest.

the quest like any android does have midi support but its dependent on the game engine as unreal i know you have to parse the entire midi functionality yourself

Hi, it's Sam from the video. Umm so yes, I approve! Good info, the only thing I would say is if you are tracking the song yourself (maybe I'll make a better tutorial for that 😉) please please please make a kit. I've told the devs to do this for the built in songs because I think the default kit is trash. I understand if your converting from guitar hero or rock band you don't really know what drums were used, although realistically the most those kits had were 6 pieces I think. But just do it, put it in ParEdit, write down the drums, and make a kit that makes since for the song. Another important thing to note is if you're using the default midi map you need to have separate MIDI files for each difficulty where guitar hero and rock band files keep them all in one file. Also the authoring thing... Listen this was the first video I made. I figured if we were making this video at all we weren't acknowledging ParaDB because realistically, anyone looking to convert a guitar hero/rock band song could more than likely find it there already. I figured I was going to do a custom MIDI mapping video pretty soon after, but that is still in the works. Overall, great video! I got many good laughs out of it and I always love constructive criticism so I can do better in the future.

haha i meant nothing by anything in this except for entertainment, im 3 tutorials and i still cant get it right xD. your video is WAY more put together and professional and it was years ago nobody knew anything realy then your videos got me into the game remember that. if you had some of the specifc info it would have been perfect. its not your fault you DID specify and made clear you were using your own midi mapping. and not a GH or RB. jsut the entire DB from then on was confused. i was more of making fun of everyone else than i was of you. lol if you want to i use to have a pretty gnarly kit set up for the song converter for tab. i had to use a bongo, triangle, and cowbell. as "placeholder drums just to get separated toms. for songs that needed 4+ toms. it was a nightmare but i experimented and found a way. i know that companion tool like the back of my hand. ive made kits for it. sadly the nature of the converted tracks is that you can only use a default kit set up, which does allow you to have any set up kit you want prior.

hey i have enabled mtp on quest and on side quest when i try to transfer songs to quest windows caint its almost as if i am not allowed to be in the data folder ,,, i have looked for a solution but found nothing

You need to click "allow always" when you plug in your quest from inside the head set. It may or not also need to be in developer mode which you need the mobile app to enable.

I’ve seen you hit the hi hat with the left hand, in some parts it’s needed of course, is it just preference or is it easier to coordinate the kicks?

no its that it doesnt matter which hand you use for the Hi hat. its just where im most comfortable. you can put your drums in literally any orientation at. im convinced there is no such thing as a right handed or left handed drummer. wackerman, portnoy, and arin had 2 hi hats on each side. you dont see any of them hit it with their left hand...check out my dethklok video he has his hi-hat on the right side only. the song is almost impossible to play with the hi hat on the left without breaking flow. its just how the drummer who recorded that for branden had his kit set up.

@@thevrdrummer666 imma just say as a drummer almost everything you said is complete malarkey. left handed and right handed drummers are very much a thing and the reason drummers such as arin, brooks, and myself have hi hats on the right side isnt for preference. it's because the hi hat on the left is kept open so you can control it and use it open or closed with your hand while the one on the right is kept closed so that during some sections with double bass you can hit a closed hi hat while using double bass since your feet are on pedals as opposed to the hi hat otherwise bits like during nightmares guitar solo wouldnt be possible played as the studio version

@@thevrdrummer666 the song is also very playable with the hi hat on the left thats how it was recorded in the studio, and played live. and while you are right you're welcome to hit the hi hat with both left and right that still falls into a category being open handed. neither left or right but there are still many left or right handed drummers which is why the kits are oriented in a left or right handed fashion

So I had an issue with extracting directly to the Android folder and it seems it's a known issue that Meta has to update - however I extracted direct to the "song" folder that you said didn't work for you at the start of the vid and it worked just fine. So if anyone's waiting for a quest update to get around the folder access, give extracting to the first folder a try. :) Thanks for the guide!

they both work you never want to "extract to" the song wont work if you do that. in either directory, place the zip in that folder. then "extract here" and then delete the zip. but on side quest, you want to drag just the single folder with only the files inside, not another folder. both directories work.

i have no idea if you need to do that. i have made a copy of it onto my SSD but im running a beta dev build of the game that is technically "3 updates old"

Im alittle confused onhow you launch the game. Do I move paradiddle folder and exe completely out of its steam location?

i wouldnt move it. but i did copy it. but you may not need to try to launch it from the steam folder just remember you have to set everything to VDXR and have steam running on the virtual desktop runtime. THEN kill all meta and steam in task manager. only then do you launch the game from the icon in the bottom right click launch game, then find the paradiddle exe ni your steam folder. if the game runs and steam dash opens up - W i t h o u t - "updating steam" you did it right.

i dont. this was a guitar pro tab converted to midi from songsterr.com. Next video l be going over the converter tool. then from there on ill be going back to the paredit software with a full walkthrough guide. ill be going over every tool, trick, method there is into making the tracks and drum kit o makwn my customs.

YO everyone ive updated the APK link. the old link stopped letting anyone download the apk so ive updated it with a modded version that is realy good. although if anyone wanted to use a specific file manager yu can download and install ANY android file manager app apk. just google it.

i have one reccomendation, if it's even possible to do (i do NOT know how to play drums on VR) maybe if you can, maybe try the drumless versions of the songs, because the drums on your vr and the ones from the song just clash together a lot imho

pass 3 videos have all been raw audio from the game with the drum mix wayyyy down With VR drums turned up. The volumes were actually leveled a bit too well. I get these kits to sound pretty much exactly like the original mix the best I can. I spend hours on them. This is all direct audio from the game I stopped dubbing over the footage. Since my nobody video but there was a good reason for it before.

my best example is strength of the world, nobody, (which has one part dubbed bc of an editing mono, stereo mistake i made like a rookie.) and people = shit i had not added or dubbed over the drums. all raw audio from the game. however before the kick drum was very very overbearing and you cant realy adjust it at all. without changing the audio samples. which i could do but i avoid it, so that when somebody plays the custom they get the exact same experience instead of a watered down one if i were to actually use a joey preset.

Btw sidequest has scrcpy built into it but scrcpy might be easier of you get a batch file of vbscript to start it

im aware, but it never usualy has the latest version of scrcpy, and a direct interface with screen copy hass les latency and allows you to keep audio from being removed from the headset which is important for playback.
