Great video thi is how i repair brake lines however always use a brake line spanner else you will damage the brass fitting you wont get it tight enough 😀

The dirt is Ethanol...which collects water when the injector is not in use. You can clearly see the varnish in the cup. Ethanol will also shrink O rings. Injector burst spray. What this video does not show you is that there is "air" also involved which atomizes the fuel more. A clogged injector will push out fuel like a squirt gun - this is bad. Should be more of a 2 or 3 part spray.

I've watched a lot of videos on this subject and yours was the best. Nicely filmed, stayed on topic and clearly explained what to do.

A person should use brake fluid to lubricate the die and the line. because other lubricants are often not compatible with brake fluid. and can contaminate the fluid in the system. and a person shouldn't ever use compression fittings.

I wish I knew about the couplers before I changed entire brake lines front to back in one piece

awesome! My brake line went on me tonight less than a week before a major trip. Funny enough, I just had to replace the ABS module a few months ago and I assumed at first that it was the module that went bad again, until I saw a trail of brake fluid in the parking space I backed out of. I probably should just replace all the brake lines, but this is the length of job that will keep me going until then.

I really appreciate your thorough explanation of every detail involved. Particularly the information about the different type of fitting at the end, because in relation to my situation it let me know whether or not I can use the compression fitting on the job I'm doing. I'm fixing a leak in my fuel line and I wasn’t sure about the fitting that was supplied with my repair kit. I'm pretty sure it'll be ok since it's not under as high of pressure as a break line is. Anyway, thank you for your helpful video.

This is simple enough without any high-pressured DIY tool. Also use 12 to 20 fluid ounces (1 ounce per gallon of gas) per tank of gas fill-up of Chevron Techron fuel system cleaning additive. That should also clean things up a bit, if you don't want to take out the injectors. But manually cleaning is best.

how does 1 fix a brake line, in a Tesla where 1 has to remove the whole high voltage battery to run the brake line.

Really is an excellent straight to the point tutorial.Anyone can do this with a little patience.And yes compression fittings are a BIG no-no....but if you have to,they will work temporarily in a pinch.And I mean temporary....be ready to pull the e brake when braking if you have a compression fitting being used temporary to get you home..

Yes...BUT....on the side of the road in winter...man...ya know?...And most do not have the flaring kit....Ya know?...SO...that compression fitting will get you home no problem so you can fix it right..I have pinched it off with a pair of vise grips and drove home...so yeah,you do what you gotta do.

Why the automotive industry does not offer an inverted double flare coupling is beyond me. You know that many a mechanic has been faces with a broken brake line. I do not see why a bite-type compression coupling made specifically for steel line would be unsafe. I am a designer who has done industrial piping and specify compression fillings made by Park-Hannifin and Swagelok for steel tubing applications. Many years ago, I was faced with repairing a broken brake line and ended up having to make up an entire line that took many twists and turns. It was stressful because if I messed up the double flare on either end, the entire line was scrap and I had to start all over again. So I practiced making double flares on scrap until I got it down to a science.

In many states, it is illegal to use brass fittings to repair brake lines. Steel fittings only.

Glad to see someone using the proper procedure for brake lines . I've had many arguments with people that have no idea what their doing using single flare, especially with aluminum lines used on small aircraft

1:39 I did that tothe injectors on my 2007 honda pilot and it tore the top of the filter off and left the filter inside, every time, no matter how delicate I was.

Never use old line always use new line tubing Don’t double flare an old line you’ll have pits in your flare and the line could fracture or split after assembly

Could you use fuel and let it sit in fuel for a little? that i believe would clean it up very well. it cleans valves super easily instead of walnut blasting. just absorb with paper towels and blow the fuel fumes out of it once soaked.
