Great tutorial! My ‘68 Bug had the same issue. I scooped up the tap/die set and it worked as advertised. Although my car is simplistic at its best, this saved me a lot of time as opposed to a shaft replacement… Thx again!

Still haven't replaced the heater core since my last comment 2 years ago. Instead, I did the bypass and gave the interior a good cleaning where the coolant had leaked out which caused film to form on the glass due to evaporation. May attempt the core replacement when the weather is warmer but will watch this video several times and take notes prior to doing this job. Many thanks for posting this helpful tutorial! 🙂

It is much easier to cut out the firewall and move it forward. Then you have created a space to put the radiator (with two pull thru fans).

Came across this video by accident. I'm currently looking for some fogs to install on my 97. Was actually thinking of doing something similar to this but I want to use some lights from auxbeam or something. Was thinking 4" but it's going to be too big. Nice vid!

if you prepared the motorhome for racing quarter mile. setting timing advance, advance recurve, setting the quadrajet carb for racing. when you tried to do a burnout and stalled it, you should have backed out of the starting line and taken about an hour to retune the engine. base timing is 4-6 degrees btdc. total advance timing is 36-38 degrees at 3500rpms. you can stretch the springs about 1/8 inch to achieve a better torque curve and quicker throttle response. If it hesitates or sputters or stalls on a burnout attempt, fatten the idle mixture slightly. for the 4 barrel to be optimimized for top acceleration, check the throttle bracket at the carb and you might have to add a half inch spacer to get wide open throttle. some motorhomes have a restricted throttle bracket at the carburetor to prevent the 4 barrel from fully opening the secondaries. you can also fatten the secondary fuel by thinning the tips of the secondary fuel rods like toothpicks or sewing needles to achieve a fatter mixture at top throttle. making those slight mods shouldn't cost a cent. you have no idea how much power and torque that powertrain is capable of making. run only dry weight. empty all the water tanks and only run the main fuel tank. if you had picked up a leak damaged motorhome partially gutted out will almost keep up to a corvette. I've used motorhomes in little high speed chases and I can keep up if I'm following someone in street traffic. highway speeds not so much. I typically top out within 80mph maybe 90mph if the gear ratio and engine isn't already at redline. if you can get a fast 60ft launch within 2 seconds, you'll make a mind blowing 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile run for the size of the motorhome. They're not meant for racing. But the 454 chevelle SS said otherwise.
