Don't be ridiculous, there is no 'initial take off'. The gyro either takes off or it doesn't. I suggest you try again - this time mention 'pre-rotating'.

@@Tinker1950 ah……..but there is: very very very few pre-rotators are able to pre-rotate rotors at high enough RPMs to accomplish these short take-off. There are also blade tip jet assists. Without effective enough pre-rotators, these gyros are not truly STOL. they may be short landers, but never short takeoffers initially.

Even a basic aircraft is capable of pre-rotating sufficiently to achieve a very short take off (see video, link). However, it is a non-approved practice having consideration of the potential for engine failure.
