We have anoles all around us. Similarly when you catch one it just sits in your hand for a while, calmly watching like, "well, you caught me fair and square."

God bless you for rescuing this little fella. I've been in the avian field now for the better part of 35yrs. Having "hands on" experience with everything from Warblers to Birds of Prey. And you honestly did ALL the right things when a bird strikes a window. So kudo's too you on that. Placing them in a dark place well ventilated of course helps them to recuperate faster from hitting an object like a window etc...The worst thing you can do is just leave the bird their because even if it isn't killed on the impact of the strike. It will usually perish because of shock or dehydration.
