That switch is AFU. They put cheap ass crap together sell it for a ransom and then you got to hope it was the right day of the week right hour of the day that everything was built…. If not you end up with a few hundred dollars worth of useless green energy crap!!! Get a different brand or go buy an Old Echo 2 stroke and don’t worry about it!! Had mine for 20 years I put a quick spool head on it for $20 and changed the broken primer bulb… ohhh and maybe a couple gallons of fuel. Still runs perfect…

You don't seriously expect to get 12kw from that belt drive, 2-3 would be the limit for one belt on those tiny pulleys.

Agreed, however, I knew that drive line was insufficient, it was what I had around the shop. As a side not I am considering making the system hydraulic drive eliminating the belt system as a whole.

@@9641277 why not just turn the gen head around and drive it with a lovejoy ? a hydraulic drive is more complicated - requires another operating system plus it's components, does not insure absolute rpm to keep frequency @60hz and creates the possibility of a more complicated breakdown while a lovejoy is a simple 1/1 shaft to shaft drive

On the generator I built I did have a lot of issues trying to direct drive with couplings but alignment is very hard to achieve belt-driven is the way to go just have to use a heavier belt I would also eliminate that electric clutch as that will slip over time.

Can you calculate a homemade generator that can power a DC or AC motor of a converted electric vehicle? I suppose the Lister engine is not suitable because it requires a motor with speed acceleration.

Unfortunately I would not suggest using an old electric drive motor for use of electrical generation, there are a number of components that a generator has from the factory that make the power generated even and safe for modern electrical appliances. Depending on your intent of use I would suggest buying a generator or even a small solar system that is already pre manufactured and engineered. From my own personal experience I found that the engineering, time and money I have poured into this project would have bought a nice used pull behind portable generator.
