for the algae scrubber, how aggressive it is for keeping nitrates and phosphates in check? Does it reduce those levels as aggressive as GFO/Rowaphos does?

I had a bad experience with Reef Cleaners. Ordered a massive order from them and they shipped in the winter. Lost 12 items including a halloween hermit. All 6 emerald crabs died. He refunded me for a couple of the loss but not everything. Then, I went to order more this spring for my new 150 tank and he was going to charge me overnight shipping on top of the basic shipping because he deemed my address "dangerous".

Should be more, someone babysat water and kept things in check for all of 7-10 years for that size growth. It’s for the doctor or dental office or very large house. That’s actually a deal and if you had a really good career and wanted a ready made 500-1000 gallon reeftank setup, that 2500 is just a small fraction of tank and setup cost. It’s not for us peasant reefers, but I have a 2 inch piece and In 10 years It’ll be priceless to me. 2500 would be a insult

Mine was eating Milka stylo, acro polyps, and favia. The tank was full of aiptasia large and small, that he did not touch. Also not easy to catch, due to how wary they are. These fish are a serious gamble, have a plan to get them out of your tank

Can you cultivate in sump with no fuge? I know many people do that with refugium's. I dont get how though. Dont they get sucked back in the return to pump and caught in filter socks if the fish dont eat them all? How would the even get from sump to display? Is that through return? probably dumb questions lol. I have a some difficult fish to feed like my watchman gobie wont come out. I got him a few weeks ago and only saw him once after the first few days he went into hiding and same with a blennie! Might be dead but no amonia in tank and it was a few days ago he came out! I guess he is eatting bristle worms or something.!
@TheCoralReefTalk
@TheCoralReefTalk 25 күн бұрын
It's better to cultivate them in a separate container. But yes the return pumps will cycle them through the aquarium. Adding chaeto to the sump or an area where they can populate and reproduce like the pod hotels can help. But I recommend a separate container as the reproduce and you split your culture and some to your aquarium.

Do blennies eat copepods? Do all fish eat them? I have some difficult fish to feed that I just got so thinking about cultivating. Can I cultivate in sump if I dont have a refugium? How would I do that? Would they enter tank through return? Would they also get sucked back down and get trapped in filter socks? What are the copepod hotels about?
@TheCoralReefTalk
@TheCoralReefTalk 25 күн бұрын
Blennies can eat Copepods however not all fish will eat them. I would recommend cultivating your own in a separate container, I do have a video about how I raised Copepods that would be a good reference. Copepods can get moved up to the display by return pumps and they will feed the tank. Copepods hotels are like a safe space for Copepods to hang out and reproduce.

Wonderful explanation, I’m amazed that you still have the older reefbot and still working all these years, this gives even higher expectations for the newer model. I’ve been using reefbot lab myself for almost a year and a half now and totally love it, can’t even remember how i used to test before. Easy to use, minimal maintenance, compatible with all tests, and spot on accurate, I always recommend it to my friends instead of other testers

@@MrToky916 I like the Reefbot ethos. Using a variety of test kits instead of being locked into proprietary ones is better for the consumer. I brought this up to the devs on the Maven release live stream and they had some lame excuse that if you couldn't find one of the dozens of reagents for the reefbot you could find theirs? What kind of logic is that. Turned me off immediately.

Does it really cost 1500 dollars? As cool as it is there’s no way to justify that when for that mean you could buy the trident/maven, which do this periodically on auto pilot, and their respective controllers for that much money.

Yeah, I have been using the CoreXP lights and I really do like them. I just recently had an issue with one of the drivers, something happened where my apex jr display and the LED driver was melted/burned and some of my tank stand appeared to be burned as well I talk about it on the latest Podcast episode. But I am reaching out to hm electronics about it. But for the last four years they have been great. Right now I am using the T5s until I get a replacement driver or decide what to do.
