The sheep are there for a very specific purpose, keep the grass down. There is actually more unexploaded mines. (The sheep are too light to set off the mines. ) Many artillery shells were fired but did not go off. Those potholes were made by multiple artillery shells hitting close together. They also used a different tactic during the whole WW1, they tunneled under the German positions and buried explosives (like TNT) and were wired to be set off from the Canadian lines (also the British and French did this too). However, many failed too explode and were left in the ground and forgotten about. They also did not keep good records of what they buried and when. The area of the reconstruction was cleared of all the unexploaded materials and human remains. (A number I found two years to just clear this part of the site. )

The flag on the right in the museum is the "Canadian Red Ensign." It was the official flag of Canada from 1892 to 1965. It's the flag all these soldiers fought under and they didn't want to change to the Maple Leaf flag. There was a lot of concern from the veterans. (You should look into some of the other propsed flags from the contest in 1965.) I think our current flag is great. It nice and different from the other flags. 😃😃🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

It’s transphobic and homophobic people like you that make me want to continue to do all the work I do for my community. Did you know that LGBTQ+ young people are more than four times as likely to attempt suicide than their peers (Johns et al., 2019; Johns et al., 2020). Pride is so incredibly important and i am SO PROUD TO BE BISEXUAL AND NON-BINARY. Instead of spreading hate go learn to love people for who they are.
