The same lockout Casbah by the 5/91 interchange and Magnolia? I know Fullerton has changed a lot since then but do you miss the “old” neighborhood? Anyway you can bring back the arcade called Reagan Years on Commonwealth that became the Slide Bar?

So when are the talks of this type of line up going to heat up? Or special appearances for the Christmas residency in OC? That would be an awesome time!

If this is Chris posting, just curious do you still have any contact with your band mates obviously minus Dennis, from this era and did you do the well wishes thing to Mike through his cancer treatment? Anyway thank you so much for posting these videos they are such a great snapshot into your guys’ time together.

Dennis always played the coolest guitars. I remember reading a behind the scenes interview with the photographer for the S/T album and he said the flame guitar in the back cover picture was actually Dennis' guitar, but he thought it looked better up front so he had Mike hold it.

A shout out to Troy high school and CSUF! I grew up in that neighborhood and went to Troy. Social Distortion was playing locally and I didn’t catch this show that day, but definitely did enjoy seeing them live back in the day! Troy High school class of 89’.

Streaming killed such a good thing. Signings, special in store shows, picking up LA or OC weekly to look at the upcoming shows for the week, spending hours searching for that one piece you’ve wanted for months going from record store to record store on a Friday night before shows, meeting new people socializing. Man and there’s a majority that say technology is a good thing. It just dumbed up our social skills is what it did.
@turkomar-vq6okАй бұрын
I don't think it ruined much. Think about how much more access to music the average person has. If anything it's been a huge positive. I wouldn't know half the bands I know without streaming and the internet. This goes the same for a lot of people. It also helps keep obscure and older bands alive and their music passed down.
@user-qv2oz8qd1lАй бұрын
@@turkomar-vq6ok my piece was one of a social aspect. I actually had real life friends who would get out go record shopping, trade vinyl, read the weekly music mags, go to shows every week sometimes a few times if I could afford it, hung out with people who had same interests instead of sitting in a bedroom somewhere with nobody else and just surfing the internet for music. It has just taken away the concept of friendship, saving for records/CD’s, and made our young society who are into music just be lazy and have instant gratification with which you call the accessibility of it on the internet. Nothing is personal with streaming.

I never knew Prison Bound was originally called 1945. I think the sound and footage is excellent, thanks for sharing! ;-)
@stephenmras85192 ай бұрын
Mike Ness wrote Prison Bound in 1987 and recorded it at Casbah Studio in Fullerton. It was released January 1988 on Prison Bound, their second studio album. So yes he was thinking of 1945, which was written in High School back in 1979 or 1980, when he delivered the narrative intro to Prison Bound. Regardless, all of their music is good and I love the rawness of this concert footage. I graduated from CSUF in 1984, so I missed this concert as I was grinding at work as an Entertainment Industry Banker financing movies to become fat and rich as Mike would sing. Hey it pays the bills.

Chris: IIRC, Social D also played at University of San Diego shortly after this but residents on the other side of Tecolote Canyon complained about the noise, so San Diego Police Dept. showed up and shut you down after only two songs. I wish we had gotten the whole performance.
