In Germany, they have 400 meter / 1200ft long trains they do all in one, remove the old rails, reactivate the shoulders, put new rails, fix and adjust them. The single thing left is thermite welding done by hand

What an amazing alloy.....I didn't expect rail to be so flexible it resembles a huge piece of rubber moulding.

Don't do what that chap with the fish bolt spanner was doing. If the bolt breaks, the nut spins loose or the spanner slips off, his tailbone will strike the rail. The only safe way to do fishbolts by hand is to stand to one side facing the nut and push downwards. That way, the knee jerk reflex will stop body parts impacting the rail.

The fire-train is to bring the rails to a certain temperature before they are welded to ensure minimal tension. It is only needed when it is cold weather.

6:50 looks like rubber, making you think, why not lay the split wider… but it’s 1084 hot rolled STEEL and only looks so easy malleable cause of angle/length/power of tractor hydraulic.

В США про такое не слышали, там ВСЕ пути с деревянными шпалами до сих пор. Картинка на заставке как раз из Сэшавки - поэтому там все ж/д пути настолько кривые.

Reminds me of watching track relaying in Europe in the 1960s. US tracks are still using 'fish plates' to join short lengths of track together? The rest of the world is using welded tracks. They are smoother, quieter and make the wheels last longer too.

Looks like installation of welded rail with the concrete ties. Amtrak started replacing their tracks with welded rail with concrete ties around 1979

Yeah those machines are sooo much worse than the European High-Speed-Rail Caternary Track layers... These ones are having trouble working with long wet noodles, whereas european ones are well-oiled 700-meter factories on rails. Electric-HSR = Concrete I think? And much wider turn radii with lighter up/down grades. Concrete is also conductive so it acts as a ground for the Pantograph conductor above.
