Hi. I am trying to organize a fishing trip for 4 pensioners to PSJ. We would like to stay in the fishermen's cottages. Either we will take a 2 sleeper or 4 sleeper. What do you suggest? We have a small camping deepfreeze, is there an electrical plug point to plug it in? We are planning the trip in October. What is the fishing usually like at this time?
@FISHINGTHEWILDCOAST3 күн бұрын
Hi, the fishermans cottages are very small and basic, to the extent we take two singles when we go. I have not been in the 4 sleeper so cant advise there. The back cottages are more spacious at a bit of a price. There are electrical points inside the cottage. The other accommodation like purple indigo and the spotted grunter are also good. October can be good provided there hasnt been heavy rain which can get the river flowing. Tight lines!!

Thanks a stack. What are your main lures while fishing there?
@FISHINGTHEWILDCOAST3 күн бұрын
@@heinzventer5849 Hi, I primarily use bucktails but they are hard work. Rapala type lipped lures are great to troll around when you need a break.

Hi. I have heard so many comments on how unsafe PSJ's is. What advice or comments do have?
@FISHINGTHEWILDCOAST8 күн бұрын
Hi, I have been fishing PSJ for 30 years now and feel relatively safe wherever I am fishing. Avoid remote areas on your own and avoid the local shebeens at night. The accommodation is great and secure. Probably best to also stay away from the 'jiggers' who are aggressive toward fisherman coming into their area.

absolutely, shad works best or mackerel also good. Just watch the surf as that area picks up a lot of swell.

I just want to say thanks for sharing I've learnt alot from your videos and I'm a newbie to the bucktail lure I recently purchased a couple and it worked I was shocked at how effective they are. I'm an old bait fisherman converting to lures. Your videos have inspired me to change to lures. Thanks again I dream of a port st John's fishing trip one day tuning you from cape town.

@FISHINGTHEWILDCOAST2 ай бұрын
@@AMROUGH82 The genuine Aquaquad that used to be made in pinetown is by far the best. The knock offs dont operate as well. The hull must have the tri hull shape, as in the two pontoons then the fibreglass hull in the middle. You welcome to send me pics of any you thinking of buying but should test first anyway. The wrong setup can cavitate badly. The mariner/mercury 25hp seems the ideal motor. You welcome to message me if you have any queries. Andre 0833205406

First of all, a very big thank you for such a swift reply. How do you fish the plugs ? Fast/ Slow/ jerking? Dropshot off Tiny's rock - Deep and slow/ Fast near the top. What about hooking up on the rocks when using a slow deep retrieval?
@FISHINGTHEWILDCOAST3 ай бұрын
The plugs are the easiest as they cast well and just a standard medium pace retrieval. Dropshots off the back and Tiny's. Try all different speeds but the garrick generally prefer medium fast. weedless dropshots are ideal because you don't get snagged in the rocks. I think Bilimoria may sell them ready rigged up. Good luck.

Love your videos. My family are coming out the June /July holidays. We are planning to go to Mazeppa Bay. I am want to give my 2 grandsons a time of their lives fishing there. What lures do you recommend for the garrick there.
@FISHINGTHEWILDCOAST3 ай бұрын
Hi Heinz, a 2oz chisel nose topwater plug is ideal for Mazeppa Bay. 2oz paddletail dropshot also works well at that time of the year plus you might pick up the odd cob. Enjoy
@PaigeHorn-sn3he3 ай бұрын
What size bucktail do you recommend.
@FISHINGTHEWILDCOAST3 ай бұрын
Hi Paige, it depends on your tackle weights. On light tackle in the river I use3/8 oz and 1/2 oz. In the ocean with heavier tackle 1oz to 1,5oz. The lighter tackle and lighter lures always get more action.

Hi, I use a few different types of reels. That particular Okuma ITX is great value for money. It feels very similar in use to my way more expensive sustain. The more expensive top end reels are more hard wearing and definitely last longer.
