Would you point me to a video that shows the full range of display options? Just got one of these and think I have it cooking brown rice but it just shows a circular looping in comparison to porridge cooking which showed a time and counted down. Thanks

@@indianolaguitarman as detailed in the user manual, for rice cooking functions the display shows a 'chasing lines' pattern to indicate Panda is cooking. Then in the last 10 minutes there is a numerical countdown. We have more information here on countdowns and displays: yum-asia.com/uk/displays-and-countdowns/

Hello, You can cook as little as half a cup of rice up to 8 cups of rice. It depends on how much each person eats but usually you can guess that it can cater for 1 to 8 people.

The countdown option is absolutely ridiculous! You have no idea where the time is at - and then it displays the final 10 minutes! Ridiculous! Just start the countdown timer from 40 minutes!! OMG. I wasn't aware of this and its completely infuriating. Cooker is going back.

Hello, Rice cookers can have various types of countdowns as explained on our web page here: yum-asia.com/uk/displays-and-countdowns/ There is a specific reason why Tsuki has a final 10 minute countdown instead of a full countdown and it is related to accuracy. The web link above will explain the reasons why but basically a full countdown would not be meaningul until the final 10 minutes anyway. Please be aware that there are almost no rice cookers in the world that can give an accurate full countdown. This is because rice cookers take time to calculate how rice is cooking, what rice is cooking, how water is being absorbed, ambient temperature and other factors. Happy Cooking!

You should shred the meat and mix the sauce while it’s still inside the pot. That way you can mix it all up without making a mess and leaving all the flavor behind on the cutting board like an idiot. Also, by doing it in the pot you are able to pull the metal liner out, put plastic wrap over the top and keep it in the fridge so you can simply scoop it out as needed and live off it all week.
@YumAsia
@YumAsia Ай бұрын
Hello and thank you for the tip. Yes you could shred the meat in the inner bowl but you have to be extremely careful not to scratch/damage the coating of the bowl. This is why we generally advise this to be done outside of the pot. Happy cooking!

@@YumAsia It’s already falling apart when it comes out and all you need is a plastic spatula and large plastic cooking spoon so there is ZERO danger in scratching it. I know because I’ve done it many times over the past couple years. So my method is still the best.

Does it play a tune when the rice is ready?
@YumAsia
@YumAsia 5 ай бұрын
Hi. No it beeps when the rice is ready and what it does is make fantastic rice using advanced fuzzy logic which we feel is more important than a tune. We do sell Zojirushi rice cookers that play a tune at the end of cooking but many of our customers eventually turn this feature off as they find it annoying and Zojirushi rice cookers only use basic fuzzy logic for their rice cooking profiles. Happy Cooking!

@@YumAsia Is there a way to fry garlic in the pot before adding the rice?
@YumAsia
@YumAsia 2 күн бұрын
@@Bubbles-od2tv Hi. We would advise to fry garlic in a frying pan rather than your rice cooker inner bowl whenever possible. This is because of the strong aroma and flavours of garlic which may infuse into your rice cooker for some time. However, it can be done using a function such as SLOW COOK, WHITE RICE and adding a little oil to shallow fry.
@YumAsia
@YumAsia 2 күн бұрын
@@Bubbles-od2tv we always advise to fry separately in a pan first. You could use the slow cook setting to fry first, but this may have an effect on the cooking cycle as you really should let the bowl cool down before cooking rice.

How do you season your rice properly? How much salt do you add? How much oil? Do you add any aromatics like cinnamon sticks or cumin seeds…etc ? Cooking rice with no seasoning at all is very bland. Recommendations are welcome
@YumAsia
@YumAsia 8 ай бұрын
Hi. Rice is not boring or plain without flavour if you cook it correctly. This common perception comes from people who use simple 'boil the rice' techniques which leeches the flavour and nutrients, destroys any texture and kills the aroma. If rice is cooked with our multi phased cooking then the flavour is not boiled away, the chemical properties are changed and the umami hit is intensified with good texture and aroma intensity. If you like rice seasoned then consider our pages here on our greedy panda blog which gives you lots of ideas about how to season your rice. greedy-panda.com/2020/06/easy-seasoning-mix-recipes/ greedy-panda.com/2023/05/easy-rice-seasoning-mix-recipes-part-2/

Hi, What rice cooker do you have? Is it a Panda or one of our other rice cookers? For example, if you have a Sakura or Bamboo rice cooker you need to hold the START button for 3 seconds to activate cooking. This is a safety feature with this touch panel to prevent accidental turning on of the cooking. Please contact us if you are still having difficulty but we think you probably have a Sakura rice cooker in which case you should be long holding the START button to activate cooking. Happy cooking!

Hello, to answer your questions: 1. There are instructions in the user manual for how to cook rice, this can be found in section 3.3.1 Cooking Rice in Panda 2. We no longer have stamped lines in the bowl, they are silk print lines and have been for over 2 years now. This video was filmed before we had silk print lines on the bowl. 3. Our bowls are not Teflon, we do not Teflon, our bowls have a ceramic coating. 4. You didn't have to Google, the instructions are in the user manual, as mentioned and we are available by e-mail to answers any questionss and we have a comprehensive help centre with knowledge base on our website.
