I love this woman to bits, in my view the greatest songwriter of our time and she was really a painter.

Not as good as the original, which was SO good because it was fresh and raw. But still good because we apparently haven't learned anything.

I’ve never felt so emotional by a song to hear this live would mean everything to me. I’m 18 years old and life is just hurting

that banjo isn't an african or african american instrument, it is based on one though. the instrument she is playing was created by white americans

Incredible performance! Joni's voice and life experiences give this song a whole new meaning this many years later. Does anyone know who the woman is in the white blouse on stage? She doesn't sing but looks familiar.

Just a 36 year old man here watching and holding back tears. I heard the acoustic version on the radio the other day for the first time and it immediately caught my attention. Nothing will ever move me like music and this is right up there with the most beautifully written songs of all time.

Despite his status, I’ve never been able to take Van Morrison seriously. Stupid hats, dark glasses indoors, a wholly unremarkable voice with an affecting accent. And I’m not the only one here to say his contribution wrecks the performance. The ego bookend to Bono.

I've been playing banjo since 1980, Bèla was my hero, I have learned most if his easier tunes. I went to see his classical music with an orchestra a few years back, not his finest for me

Lyrics: I swear the bells in every chapel Were ringing the day that I met you From high in the trees birds were singing Singing of you and me From deep in the crowd you were glowing You were glowing without even knowing From way over here it looked crystal clear You were the one for me But life ain't so simple No life it ain't so kind You know life could lead you somewhere to be all alone You're crying crying crying I swear the bells in every chapel Were ringing the day that I met you They were ringing so clear But you couldn't hear Your heart could never be mine I swear the lilies in every valley Were blooming the day that you touched me When you took my hand well you told me One day I would understand But now I'm much older and suddenly I see Just what you were talking about Still from way over here it looked crystal clear You were the one for me But life ain't so simple No life it ain't so kind You know life could lead you somewhere to be all alone You're crying crying crying I swear the bells in every chapel Were ringing the day that I met you They were ringing so clear But you couldn't hear And your heart could never be mine But life ain't so simple No life it ain't so kind You know life could lead you somewhere to be all alone You're crying crying crying Well I swear the bells in every chapel They were ringing the day that I met you They were ringing so clear But you couldn't hear And your heart could never be mine
