They replaced these self checkouts with Toshiba sadly, so there arent any belt lanes anymore. I’ll try to see if Day Drive still has the IBMs one day.

To be honest I thought they were gonna be Toshibas because the cash registers were Toshibas as well, because normally (except for Walmart and here) the register is made by the same brand as their self checkouts.

Bonus fact: My closest located custom store has one of the more common finds for a self checkout, which is an older IBM with the older Datalogic Magellan scanner. What does your closest store have for their self checkouts? (basically what you like the best, this is a fictional store obviously)

Update: I’m gonna try scrapping voice lines off of videos and removing background noise with AI. However, it has to come from an IBM self checkout since it has the clearest and most normal speaker quality

Also: Do any of you two possibly have clear audio of the “Scan Coupon Now” and the “follow the instructions on the pin pad” lines? (plus the click, the “please select your payment method”, the “coins and bills”, and the ending “please remember to take” lines)

and to the viewers who are curious on how I did this, simply I used Google Slides. Audio came from a drive link on a video of all the lines.

Also this isnt official, but rather a concept. I actually created this concept myself just to make as a teaser for if Giant Eagle ever does switch up the theme to the theme that is commonly used nowadays for IBM and Toshiba self checkouts

By the way when do you stream again? I looked at google photos of giant eagle stores, and the Market District in Solon has the same cash acceptor as BJs Wholesale from your videos (rare for a giant eagle or market district store)

All we know is they are gonna be scarce at this time since Giant Eagle has been replacing them all with these new Toshiba Self checkouts. Who knows if I will ever come across another IBM in a Giant Eagle.

The only Giant Eagle with a likelihood to still have an IBM based on my mind is the one in Day Drive. Others are further east or west. I already checked snow road and that one has the new Toshibas as well and of course the old scanner has been replaced. Theres like only 1 or 2 Giant Eagle stores that I believe even have a chance of having an old Datalogic scanner
