Such a marvelous recording! May I ask, what is your recording equipment that you used during the time of recording? Sounds amazing!

Soprano's are too loud in places where the lower saxophones are supposed to shine. The high pitch is too overpowering, especially in fantasia on the dargason.

I noticed at 1:49 there's a rather high note and so I was wondering if perhaps..there might I've been a Soprininno there as well because that is not an easy note to hit without altissimos
@rmantell76
@rmantell76 4 жыл бұрын
I did write in optional ossia for sopranino, but at the time of recording I did not own one. So you are hearing an altissimo B flat played on my soprano saxophone.

@@rmantell76 ah, ok..wow I thought it was an old recording Unrelated but speaking of that high sound, you should check out waltzing soprilda.. absolutely insane how high the Soprillo can play

What a surreal sight to see... especially love the bass saxophone on the left and oddly spongy pitch of the Soprano

How wonderful. I love hearing new arrangements of songs I love. And that bass sax: like miles of chocolate covered velvet roses. Or a smith's hammer. Hats off from a tuba player.

One of my favorites for concert band. And now for Saxophone ensemble. This is so bloody cute! And yet elegant. Lovely! Question: if this was pop music, we would call it a cover. Since it's "classical", we call it an arrangement. where do you draw the line? Is Janis Joplin's recording of Gershwin's "Summertime" a cover or an arrangement? I don't care what the answer is, I just love this music. Thank you, Ryan Mantell, for arraigning it...covering it...whatever, doing it! Can you do "Summertime"?

Thank you for your kind words! Unfortunately I have not been in a position to do any more recording for a while now, so I am unsure when I can get back to it. Summertime is a lovely tune!

You are amazing for composing this and playing all the parts yourself!!! You are like the Dave Grohl of wind band music, by doing it all yourself like grohl did on the first foo fighters record. Truly brilliant, I love grainger too!!

i feel the soprano voices are too strong. bring out the tenor voices at 0:52: it's the new stuff, and we want to hear it! Also the grace notes at 1:14 must be played out, it brings the bouncy and naughty feel to the music. Also, where are the triplet descending chromatics? They sound like shooting rockets, and as I said before, it is something that is interesting to hear. Overall I would have preferred the dynamic contrast to be bigger, and just softer in general. It sounded like a bit of overblowing especially on the soprano sax parts. But oh wait, it's a Sax Quintet, nvm :) Other than that, it sounds quite wonderful! Keep up the good work! I am enjoying these different arrangements for Molly on the Shore!

Ray Zhang Ok, how about you go ahead arrange and perform a piece of your choice by multi tracking an entire family of wind instruments, put it up on KZfaq and then we will critique all of the minutia about it. Your criticism is insignificant when compared to the complexity of this arrangement and performance.
