This is a classic case of government interference and are causing a lot of pain for the auto industry electric cars have a future and someday they may be efficient enough that we can get rid of fossil fuel base products but just shutting the door like they’re doing immediately is putting our economy in the tailspin. It is causing this inflation just too much government regulation. It doesn’t work, Kamala Harris is not an engineer. She’s a bozo.

Jeep doing the EREV with the Wagoneer is definitely a smart move, there are not any reasonable competitors in that segment. I wouldn't buy one though, or if I did I would sell it right before the warranty let out! Definitely a lease vehicle and avoid a used one like the plague unless by some miracle they turn out to be reliable.

John & Shaun, when will there be some real & "factual" information on what is happening to EV batteries worldwide (as in recycling v landfill) with all the seemingly large amount of EV's written off please? Australia has no recycling of EV batteries. Especially knowing that EV batteries are not easily stored in"junkyards etc."
@krakken-
@krakken- Сағат бұрын
Ms Hole says there are "five or six start-ups" in Australia that have recently gained government funding and have directly partnered with manufacturers to provide recycling solutions. Melbourne-based company IM Group is "leading the space" in battery repurposing Ms Hole says, companies like Envirostream, EcoBatt and Tes Amm are also expanding their recycling businesses. EcoBatt, for example, works with brands like Polestar, Mercedes, Volvo, Porsche, BMW, Hyundai and Nissan. "At present, our current volumes within the electric vehicle (EV) market are not extensive, but we anticipate significant growth in the coming years," a spokesperson for EcoBatt told Drive. According to Tesla, Australia's most popular electric car brand, "None of our scrapped lithium-ion batteries go to landfill, and 100 per cent are recycled".

In 2018 nobody even thought that Tesla would be profitable, let alone TSLA get the valuation it has today, "$420 Secured " was even laughed at, and Elon had to stepdown as Tesla president as a result of that, yet today legacy auto is scrambling to decode what makes Tesla tick, and playing catchup to the Technology it has implemented, as Autoline daily and Caresoft and Sandy Munro has often opinioned.

Let's be honest, during the Trumpdemic he allowed for dealers to overcharge/price gouge. As an auto hauler for the industry, I seen this first hand. The OEM's did nothing to stop it nor the government at that particular time! Hell the government didn't do sh*t for cars, homes, food etc. Companies made record profits off of a situation brought on by the government at that time by not taking action once knowing about covid! Now the effects are long term with no solution in site. Now we as a people are forced to pay outrageous prices for homes that aren't worth 2 damn dead flies, groceries higher than giraffe p*ssy, and cars that make you lazy on top of fixing them! Hell, to this day businesses are still using the "supply chain issues" as an excuse, covid been long gone and we're still getting d*cked with no Vaseline...... The country became more divided due to idiot politics! No one wants to by an over sensor vehicle that doesn't holds up to the price!!!!

There's no such thing as free market competition when you are competing with China. China does not, internally, have a free market. Most electric vehicle companies are state owned and the government significantly depresses its currency value and oppresses the value of labor via anti organizing laws and non existent enforcement of overtime or other labor laws.

Q: With Fords hands free driving what happens if you get a flat tire? A: BARREL ROLL or CART WHEEL... mind you which occurs depends on road conditions, which tire blows, vehicle speed, and how much "Adverse Yaw" is suddenly induced into the chassis at that fateful moment.

In Tesla, the put on the emergancy flashers, and the car slows and pulls over to the side of the road. It offen senses the problem before the driver does. Many humans do the worst thing and will lose control of the car. I'd trust FSD over humans. That doesn't mean FSD will save you every time, as some situations are beyond recovery, such as being T-boned by a high-speed red light runner. I presume (but do not know) that Ford's system is similar.

That's on a level surface with no incline. Ordinarily that would be nitpicking, but Pikes Peak isn't exactly flat so the reduction in downforce when on a 20% grade becomes pretty significant. Aero downforce will generally be the same regardless of grade.

Does the "lower" operating cost of EV vans in Europe include the price of a battery replacement? If you assume you'll only have the vehicle for a few years it won't matter. However, If you plan on keeping the vehicle for longer than a few years a battery replacement WILL be needed and that will greatly affect "operating cost" calculations. ICE will not incur such an expense since powertrains have had to greatly improve durability to satisy stricter emission and OBD requirements. ICE can easily last well over 200k miles now.
@matthewmanzi9504
@matthewmanzi9504 11 сағат бұрын
I’m sorry but you probably have been getting misinformation somewhere. There is no need to change out the batteries ever at this point. EV batteries are expected to last 300 to 500k miles at worse currently and some batteries that are going into EVs are rated for over 1 million miles. Yes the initial batteries in the early 2010s only lasted 200k miles but they have improved significantly since then.
@JD-yx7be
@JD-yx7be 10 сағат бұрын
id argue modern direct injected turbo engines are much more expensive to last 200k miles vs 90s-00s NA engines. Emission compliant diesels are even worse offenders my ancient 7.3 powerstroke diesel will likely chug along past 500k miles without major repairs good luck doing that with the DEF and EGR systems on a modern diesel
