Just seen this - hope their restoration is going really well. Really admire this couple. I have a MG Good Hope 38, also built in Oz but launched 1990. Jarrah planked also but only to waterline, Queensland maple topside planking. I bought her in the UK and sailed to NZ where I live now. Wooden boats are definitely a labour of love but the character and feeling of them is so worth it!

Lovely cruising boat but.missing.a.bowsprit. with the main so far forward it would improve her sailing ability very much. Old sea.dog.

Love these motor sailor cray fishing vessels like this, the Jane Kerr and so forth. Would make great cheap running, long voyage expedition vessels

Beautiful yacht...admirable project that has been taken on and completed. Not easy...on both the mind and wallet. But worth it in the end. Well done.

I’m guessing… the owners sold the boat along with the dream. There appeared friction between them and the initial boat builder bought in. So, I’m guessing the plug was pulled. Anyone know any different?

From what I am seeing that looks a pretty sound boat so well worth saving. Don't let the naysayers get to you. If you have more rivets to do then think about getting a battery 'Palm Nailer'. Have someone make you suitable tools to go on the end. It will make fitting the roves and peening the rivets so much easier. (easier to do and easier on the hands). See YT channel 'Ship Happens'. As you will likely be splashing before any interior and engine then think about sticking some barrels below to fill with water. The weight should have her sitting at, or below, the waterline so all the important planks can take up.

You might want to reconsider your proposed caulking method. The hull should either be caulked with Oakham below the water line and cotton above.

If "youtube" had been round when you started, I think your channel would have resembled "Sailing Yaba" . They are building a large wood boat in Brazil and have quite a following. Big difference would be they have an old rotten boat in the way. Look forward to more stories of your adventures.
