The book is very insightful for someone who wants to heal or simply understand trauma. But I think the book uses repetitive ideas, which could be kinda annoying. However, you will understand best by the real-life examples given in the book if you read

Really glad I didn't buy the book. Figured it was going to be regurgitation of Scott's usual propaganda. And I was right.

I prefer a human voice, sopped watching after 20 seconds. The monomyth deserves a less monotone narrator.

I read this book 20 years ago, and since then I started reading the Bible, and now I realise how much from this book is actually from the Bible. Pretty cool

Thanks! That was a nice look at the book. I wouldn't call it a summary, but more like "valuable takeaways" from the book.

Does the 0 gravity and incredibly fast time at the center of the sun cause it to be unimaginably hot? Could that also explain why the Earth's core remains so hot?

Its gone beyond television now. Social media disinformation is the new way to scare and misinform the masses. Now we have governments running massive trolll farms sowing social discontent.

I wish I had NOT thrown out old clothing in good shape. I'm finding out too late that the new clothing is crap. Lasts weeks to the old clothing's years of durability. Records: got rid due to lack of parts for player less than a year when records and record players became available for purchase again. Wish I'd kept those. De-cluttering is always a gamble.

He actually did create a utopian novel. It was the last one he wrote and he said his best work. Titled "Island", it too involved a supplement of drugs (a mushroom growing on the island); he was a mentor though for LSD in the last part of his life, so a good reason why drugs are so predominant in his writings. Much of it is based on Eastern philosophy, even training birds on the island to repeat passages for the island dwellers as reminders of the philosophy of the island. He also implied hypnosis with surgery and birthing as solutions to healthcare. Population control would be a mixture of modern contraception or if one chooses, using yoga techniques to assist with celibacy. Two characters counterbalance the philosophy of the island, a religious prude, and a homosexual materialist who believes the island is beta and needs more strength in defense that provide the other characters argument that the island's philosophy is better. Toward the end, it's a bit sad because death is gone over as the island philosophy as well and given that the context that the author was literally in the process of dying at the time makes it more profound and sad. It's a bit of a slog to read compared to Brave New World, but I did find it interesting to his solutions for a Utopia though I do think dated a little bit and it's too leaning to one philosophy.

caste does not exist in hindu religious text , caste is a portugese word which derived from class system and rigidified by the British during colonial rule. In hinduism Varna is mistaken for caste , Varna ia a frame work, u r not born into , u r given the title of that varna if u have the qualities of that Varna. Please change your video audio.

The author very clear that yoga isn't special or magic. Any movement that causes a person to be grounded in their body and aware of their body helps, rather that's yoga, tia chi, tango dancing, or anything else.

Thanks for saving me the trouble of reading this wildly messed up book. Regular normal exercise is not a trauma for the body/brain/mind, and addiction is often avoiding the pain of actual trauma (not seeking pleasure as this book claims, but rather avoiding sensations & feelings we were designed to avoid at all costs & that no human can endure). Like I said, thanks for saving me the time & effort!

The Stoics didn't believe "everything happens for a reason" - the ancient Stoics weren't Christians. They believed in the 3 fates, and they believed no one could defy fate. Much like a dog tied to a cart going down the road, you can either fight the cart and get dragged anyway or you can happily take in all you see along the road. Either way, you're going to the end of the road, just as the fates wove for you. It's up to you rather you enjoy it.

IMO, positive, constructive, uplifting thoughts, feelings and desires come from above and negative, destructive, depressing thoughts, feelings and desires come from below and we are each free to choose what to accept and believe and what to reject and disbelieve. We are in a spiritual (mental) war and we have spiritual enemies. Best wishes to all.
