This is also the method for 2015 Toyota Corollas made in Thailand and sold in Australia. Don't follow the youtube videos that tell you to twist, otherwise you will break the light assembly (guess how I know).

Toyota did this purposefully so their stealerships can charge you 80 bucks to change the license plate bulbs

Thanks for the video, but I have to say that I have tried your way and for some reason it just won’t come out and I just don’t want to break that part, I guess I will try the other way with the Allen wrench and see if can get it out, but it’s just a little annoying not being able to do that.

Thank you so much for this video. I had made several attempts to replace a Licence plate bulb on my 2010 Toyota Corolla. Just could not figure it out. Very fortunate to find your video at the right time. Your instructions were so helpful. Followed them step by step and managed to get the holder out and replace the bulb. Had to work very carefully but got there. Thank you very much, very grateful for your help.

Ironically, the general overall excellence of Toyota vehicles comes close to being PROOF that this was deliberately designed to be unnecessarily difficult. There is no way Toyota engineers were incompetent enough to screw it up this badly. I used a file to grind off the little metal tab that was added to stop you from pulling out the fixture.

Had 1 of 2 license plate lights blow out on my 2012 Camry, ordered some LEDs, couldn't figure out how to install them. Watched a few vids on how to remove from the outside, but couldn't get mine to budge. Watched your video and 5 minutes later I had 2 brand new LEDs installed. Thanks 🤙🏻

Looks like same set up for the 2021 corollas I was tryyna replace mine and got stuck there, because other videos show replacing them from inside of trunk

When removing this way, be careful when squeezing the clips bc I broke my first one and had to order a new one.

Same thing happen to me. Mine were almost impossible to get out of the hole in the trunk lid. I just used some red neck engineering and used a wire secured to the trunk lid to hold the light in place.
