I used to listen to Greg Koukl from Stand To Reason ministry. He has some strategies and techniques that are both non confrontational yet gets the person thinking.

Thank you for sharing this overview of chaplaincy with us. I came home last week asking, "What have I gotten myself into?" Last summer/fall, my big sister asked if I'd be interested in taking a chaplain's course with her. Her husband is a minister and continued his education and involvement with the church he now serves as associate pastor. I told her I'd think about it.... I did - intermittently - until we reached the end of 2023 and I felt this "tug" to go for it. I do not consider myself a religious person and never felt called to the ordained ministry - yet I have the desire to share Hope. There have been some delays in registering and beginning studies. And after my first in-person contact with the program administrator and other students - and getting the chaplain's creed and an overview of the chaplain's role - it began to dawn on me that this is no academic exercise: a chaplain is an ordained minister - just what I didn't feel I was called to be. So, I've tried to get more background this past weekend: studied my school's creed; looked up the etymology of, "chaplain"; learned about Martin of Tours - St. Martin; read some articles (Google) about the position. And I've continued to pray. So, it benefited me to see Chaplain Souci - a former pastor - give his overview of the role of a chaplain. And I thank you, again, for sharing this with us.

Thank you for some great chaplaincy insight, as a chaplain myself, and knowing that the organisation is secular, makes it much easier for me as an ordained priest to help, and that sense of none godliness is definitely present, and the none religious which I estimate as the majority, I have to pastor, and spiritually support in a non religious way, and what I've found out is everyone irrespective of being religious or none religious are connection through their love of mankind and humanity (which is the second commandment anyway) though I keep this too myself unless I'm sure the individual is religious then a Christian.... Fascinating insights though, thank you...

Sir are you a catholic priest?

@@operatorbubbles3723 I was a visitor at all of the major denominations in England UK then ended up committing myself to the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints.... Where after a years membership, the men if worthy receive the Melchizadek priesthood, giving them the office of Elder in the church. Basically though, catholic priests are paid and ourselves serve the lord in a volunteering capacity. Incidentally, myself as chaplain at my secular police station am practicing Religious prayers for the religious, secular prayers for the non religious which is the majority, and thirdly a kind of neutral prayer which can be addressed to a group, which ultimately aims to uplift everyone's spirits without offending. It's really just a play on words the main thing is though the chaplain is sincere..... Many thanks for your question though...

I find it quite sad & worrying the amount of people who have no real faith 😢 the world will hopefully change for the better soon enough 🙏 society has changed because families took God outside the home...which leaves the home vunerable to the enemy & all his temptations

I'm looking at doing some chaplaincy in retirement (in a year or so.) Planning to serve first responders: police, fire, and EMS.
