We haven't measured dB, but the sound output is 5 watts and is as loud or louder than a real large dog. We have a new model that has an output max of 120dbl. Ray, The Barking Dog is designed to sound like a real dog from the outside of the building. When the unit is set up correctly, the barking sounds are directed into the room where they bounce off of the interior walls. Customer comments to us include: having animal control contact them about licensing their dog. The customer had to show the animal control officer the unit to prove it was not a real dog. Others have had neighbors inquire about their new dog because they knew they had lost their old dog. Another had a friend refuse to come into their home because they were afraid of the dog. We have sold and tested these units since 2010 and there are many more comments like these. Personal experience: my demo unit sounds like a neighbor's dog and I have caught myself wondering why my unit was armed when it was that dog barking. As for your question included with the comment. Our unit is not recordable.

If you Have the Homesafe, SafeFamilyLife, or Safety Technology versions of the Barking Dog Alarm, there is a switch on the side of the unit to allow you to choose Bark, Alarm, or Chime Tone. Check closely and see if that switch has three clicks. It may be out of place. If you purchased this from ForSecuritySake, you have a one year exchange warranty from the day of delivery. If you purchased from a different dealer try to contact them for information.

This video does not show a doorbell hookup, however the Barking Dog Alarm can be set, via a switch on the side of the main unit, to Bark, Chime (Which is a doorbell sound), or Siren alarm. There is no doorbell button, but when set as Chime, the ding-dong will sound when movement is detected. Yes. The amount of wire is the issue. Depending on the thickness of the wire, or how many times it is overlaid will cut down on the distance through the wall, but it will go through. If you have a large amount or solid metal, you can still use the barking Dog Alarm with an add on adjustable outdoor sensor. You place the sensor outside and it sends an RF signal to the main unit to bark. Here is a 5 min video on how the 3 available add on sensors work. You may want to add an outdoor motion sensor to the Barking Dog Alarm and adjust it to point only in the area where the problem is. Just keep in mind that a motion sensor will trigger on anything that movers in that area.
