Hello. Have you noticed that after the last update, the app doesn't open, doesn't recognise the headphones and you can't even register them? The app doesn't work and doesn't detect any headphones. Do you have any idea why? Thanks

Great video. I liked that you mentioned HD 650. I have the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro like most beginners start with. I then bought the HD 650 but I was never wowed by them so I haven’t yet discovered something enjoyable. I am thinking to try the Azurys because they are more affordable.

I have the HD650, HD599, DT 770 80ohm, DT 770 Pro X, K371, MX50, PX7 and Momentum 4. Of all these I prefer the sound of 2: HD599 and DT770 80ohm (which I had them custom mod detachable cable). I'm waiting for the Azurys to show up on Amazon to use my gift card, I'm very excited about those.

I have both the Elegias and the Radiance, and yes the Radiance is a lot more engaging and well tuned that the elegias, but what I have done to make the elegias a little bit more engaging is that I changed the pads to Dekoni elite sheepskins and I also use the earmen colibri and it has a base boost option and that seems to alleviate some if not most of the issues in the sound department with the elegias, specially regarding the base, it hits hard and it's well extended and brings it a little closer to the radiance, while still maintaining an airy and spacious presentation. I never had the issue of metalic timber that people complain a lot about focal headphones and I also have the clears, so that hasn't been much of an issue for me and tho I appreciate a huge sound stage in headphones, it's not a big priority for me or is not going to detract from the experience that much, I'm more interesting in separation, imaging and holography than sound stage size when it comes to technicalities, so focal headphones fit the bill perfectly for me and the punch and raw visceral experience that they bring to the table is still something that I only get with them.

I have Elegias and was looking at these two new headphones so this comparison was really helpful. Doesn’t sound like they are different/better enough to spend the money, but kudos to Focal for yet another fantastic headphone. BTW, have you tried leather pads on your Elegia? I found that filled out the bass for me.

I did yes, it definitely helps. If you have Elegia then you're set at the desk, I'd say these are more if you want to take focal closed back sound on the go and still have a superb experience that trades blows with Elegia.

I bought the Celestee and they hurt my ears, Just to bright to me so sent them back, Took a chance on the Bathys and loved them, I see the Azurys and took a punt on them with my bad experience of the Celestee in mind and i was totally surprised at how amazing they are and with a Quidelix 5K even more so, I now have the Hadenys coming as my first ever open backs and the Bathys are on ebay, I hate Focal because they more often than not knock it out of the park which then hurts my bank account 😂

I like to EQ my headphones to pull the best out of them. So for me, between the Azurys and the Elegia, I'd go for the Elegia since I can get the bigger stage and fix the timbre with some EQing.

Hi Thanks for Doing this Review .. I am watching with My LG V60 .. I went to a shop to try some headphones ... They didn't have Elegia but they had Clear MG and I tried and liked it .. Just wondering how different will Elegia be compare to Clear MG please ? Elegia is Much More Cheaper online and I really want to buy it just that not sure if it will sound as good .. Elegia is AUD329 at the moment .. Should I just Blind buy it pls? Thanks J

For 329 AUD it's a superb price. Elegia are solid, with great detail and some solid technicalities. You'll be happy if you liked the Clear - they're not as good, but that goes without saying.

Who has a more natural timbre - hadeniz or azaris? and who has better bass and who has mid range?
@engineeringart6345
@engineeringart6345 Ай бұрын
Hadenys is a very similarly tuned headphone that does everything better in a technical sense. It's more detailed, sounds more natural and has a more spacious presentation. Timbre is slightly better on Hadenys. As for bass quantity, see the FR for yourself, closed backs do have an advantage in quantity, but again, Hadenys is going to give a slightly better resolved and textured bass.

Wow so biased. No eq no dac no nothing. The bathy was designed for those features and not to use them is to handicap the headphones. To suggest that the sound of the bathy is a certain way without using them as designed isn't fair and hardly accurate. I actually have used both and I say that without eq of either set of headphones leaves both wanting in various categories of sound but luckily the headphones have the ability to be eq. Finally the time and effort to make this video is to be valued. Great video eventhough I can't agree with the methods that you used in making the comparison of these headphones.

Biased? I like both brands, but don't feel a bias either way. If anything I'm probs Focal biased as I own so much of their gear, but the conclusion is somewhat in B&W favour. I agree with you, the review could be more complete, but I specifically say this is for bluetooth out of the box performance which many users will default to. There's an odd dip in Bathys upper mids but other than that I don'see the need to EQ them. Wired in with a DAC, they get a lot better, but again, these are bluetooth headphones we're reviewing and for me that's the feature I want to emphasise. I understand a more complete and superior review would have included a section purely devoted to wired listening where the Bathys elevate a fair bit, and also a comparison of the various codecs on offer (AAC vs Aptx HD vs Aptx) but I only have so much time and wanted to give a general idea.

I know this is an older video, but regarding that B&W PX8 you got, I wanted to add that if you turn them on and THEN connect through the USB-C cable it should receive lossless audio as well, givind that in order for them to work they would need to be in active (USB-C) mode. They don’t work in passive (cause they don’t have a 3.5mm jack) analog mode. And the beauty is, because they’d use the built in circuitry, there would be no need for external gear (DAC of any kind), because the audio processing would happen on the headset itself! In theory, it should sound amazing! Can you verify if that’s true? I’d really appreciate a response from you! Thank you for your time!

Not sure if I missed it, but what codec did you use? I keep seeing people compare these to each other and to AirPods Max, but never saying what codec. If people use and iPhone as the source, they are forced into AAC. So perhaps not even if using the best codec with an Android and AAC with an iPhone. Just curious.

I pulled the trigger on buying the px8 because there was no shop with the bathys anywhere near me. Honestly, I would prefer a wider soundstage and more clarity because that's what I enjoy when listening to music, being able to pick out the details, so that would be a point for the bathys but I'm not a fan of how the bathys look and when you're spending this much on headphones that are designed to be used on the go the aesthetics do matter! I got to test the px8 in the shop and I enjoyed the sound even if it's not technically as neutral etc however it sounds brilliant all the same. The xm5s just sounded cheap in comparison, and I didn't like the h95s as much either although I only listened to 2 or 3 songs on each so it's hardly a fair comparison. This video really helped me feel reassured in just biting the bullet and spending so much. I've watched at least a dozen other videos and they didn't go into as much detail with as much passion and care. The way you go through it is a lot more helpful than just throwing up some charts showing the sound curves. I don't have the dosh to splash around trying all the different headphones at this price range and I have only ever had non ANC wired headphones + AirPods Pro, so that's where I'm coming from when looking at all of these premium anc headphones. I would still buy the bathys as well if I won the lotto just because that type of sound presentation sounds like it's right up my alley. After a short time with the Px8 I am really pleased with them. So, thank you for the video! These kind of thoughtful and honest videos seem rare nowadays.

@@faithless1706 … the Bathys were seriously lacking in volume. I couldn’t tell how good the sound was because they didn’t get loud enough.
