I highly recommend Altus. Great facility and the local shooters are great. I started rimfire competition just over a year ago and these guys have showed me so much. Super helpful and friendly. I shot a few of the NRL22 matches there last season and I've shot 1 of the new PRS matches, and I must say the PRS matches are definitely better. I'll definitely be back

This optic is not as good as some of the high dollar optics out there… but it’s pretty dang good. I just got back from Yellowstone and was able to Phonescope a pair of wolves at slightly over 1.2 miles. A lady next to me with a $10,000 camera and telephoto lense couldn’t even see them with her setup. She was pretty disgusted. She ended up taking a picture of my iPhone with her IPhone.😃

Wow that's some SEVERE chromatic aberration. Those are some very low quality optics, even for the price. You can buy similar "quality" optics for about 1/2 the price. That's how Vortex works: They charge you twice what it should cost knowing they'll probably have to replace it at least once.
@AZHOTROD845 ай бұрын
I haven't found the price being double to be accurate. I think the MSRP is high knowing street value will be less.
@iancurrie88445 ай бұрын
@@AZHOTROD84 The street price is easily double what it's worth. Sorry to tell you.

Looks extremely washed out? Strange color and so bright it appears to haze the image. Is that the case or is this an issue of a camera attached to the scope?

I found it to be the camera adapter. still trying to find a solution to this issue

And now it’s overtorqued because you added length to your torque wrench. Also, why not just use a socket?
@fusionvic Жыл бұрын
Are you not using a set of barrel vise jaw clamps? When you torque the muzzle device on the barrel without supporting the barrel all the force goes into the receiver.

That’s a lot of scope for a 22. I put one on a 7mmMag. Also put a Venom waiting on Mosin and a Diamondback Tactical on my 6.5CM. My wife has a Venom on her 6.5CM. Once you get above the Diamondback you get zero stop and 34mm tube. Great scopes

Very helpful video but my rail for the CZ457 Precision Varmint Chassis needed a small rubber mallet for persuasion. Very tight fit for this scope base to slide on the dove tail on my rifle. Went with 30 MOA as a 50 would be over distance I would try to shoot ( 100 to 200 yards max ).

Are you still using the Hellfire brake on your .308 rifle? please speak about the recoil reduction and if you can spot your impacts or bullet trace once fired
@AZHOTROD845 ай бұрын
I am. I feel I can spot impacts on target or misses off plate. Trace isn't something I look for. I run Hellfires on everything so I don't have anything else, like a fat bastard to compare it to.

Excellent review, Mr. DeMarco - have a question: I'm 70 years-old and beginning a new career - although most Private Investigators I know conduct surveillance with a long-lens camera, wouldn't this serve the purpose as well with an iPhone adapter?

That’s a good scope but I did a side by side comparison with my old Redfield 20-60x80 (purchased about 10 years ago for $280) compared it to my Buddy’s Diamondback same as this one being reviewed and we could not see a difference after about an hour of comparing, unfortunately it broke one day while pulling it out of my safe, dropped it, contacted Leupold ( they owned Redfield when I bought it) and they thoroughly impressed me by sending me the Leupold SX2 20-60x80, I can tell you without a doubt it is a cleaner optic than the Diamondback, not night and day, but definitely noticeable
@allaboutroofing2 Жыл бұрын
I bought the sx2 85mm for $399 and returned it. Thanks for confirming the diamondback is probably a no go as well. Perhaps it was my copy, but anything over 20X was pretty lousy and had horrible chromatic aberration at anything over about 30x to the point of unusable. The reviews are the same. The diamondback 10x42 binoculars are really good and was hoping the diamondback scope might be of equal quality, but no.

Excellent video. Great job, Guy. I'm starting to really like the sub-sonic / standard velocity ammo, regardless of maker, because they're quiet and seem to be a little more accurate than their high velocity counterparts. The "clean" polymer bullet used here is just icing on the cake. I'll have to pick up a couple of boxes and see how my dad's ol' Mossy 142-a likes them. Thanks for posting this. 👍
