This movie played on the newly inaugurated HBO in 1974. I was 17 and gobbled it all up in all of its gorgeous, melancholy majesty. I love it still, always will.

Αφορμή στην προσπάθεια μου να επιχειρήσω στην γλώσσα μας , την απόδοση αυτού του υπέροχου τραγουδιού του Jaques Brel ,ήταν πριν μια εικοσιπενταετία περίπου, όταν έτυχε να το ακούσω στην Ελληνική με τίτλο ’’μη μ’ αφήνεις μη ’’ τραγουδισμένο από τον Πάριο . Θεώρησα να κακοποιήται βάναυσα στην γλώσσα μας , αυτό το αριστουργηματικό ποίημα , παγκόσμιας ακτινοβολίας . Αυτή κυρίως ήταν η αιτία που μ’ έβαλε στον πειρασμό να το προσπαθήσω , ( εξυπακούεται μέσα στα μουσικά του όρια ) , κατά πόσον το κατάφερα δεν έγκειται σε εμένα να το κρίνω ! In Brazil we have a Novel named Terra Nostra. There is this song on soundtrack! It shows somebody who is a Pilgrim in America but miss their birthland in Italy. Beautiful!

Schipa, Gigli, De Stefano and Lanza were great, but Pavarotti surpassed them. Perhaps the only one who he didn’t was Caruso himself.

I strongly disagree, Pav is great but he never surpassed the greatest like Corelli Gigli Bjorling, he's mostly got a huge propaganda for him because he was arguably the greatest of his time, but if he was born earlier he would ve been one among many great tenors.

Loved her in “The Stars are Singing” with Rosemary Clooney.She should have been in more musicals ; what a gorgeous Kathy she would have made in “The Student Prince” and I can imagine what a stunning job she would have done with ‘Come Boys’.

Wonderful performance. Anna Maria also appeared with Dean Martin in 'Ten Thousand Bedrooms' 1957, the song' Only Trust Your Heart', in that picture was very good too.
